While the recruiting and scholarship offers have been spectacular, there have also been new opportunities. The Wisconsin Badgers have an athlete who has de-committed in the 2024 class. Austin Alexander announced via Twitter that he would de-commit from the Badgers and look to enter his collegiate career elsewhere.
Wisconsin Down to One 2024 Recruit in QB Mettauer
The very first commitment for the Badgers in the 2024 class came from Austin Alexander. The three-star corner back from Illinois ranks as the 14th best player in his state and the 47th corner back overall. Alexander announced his de-commitment from Wisconsin on Twitter through Allen Trieu of 247 Sports. Trieu spoke to Alexander to understand why he made his decision.
Alexander cited in his Tweet that he would consider Wisconsin going forward. However, he also cited the staff changes in his Tweet as well as he hoped to get to know them better. Alexander is hoping to continue recruitment with Wisconsin, but also wants the freedom to experience different schools while learning the new Badgers staff.
Between the changes at Wisconsin and the new recruits that have entered the school, a lot has changed. In a short amount of time Luke Fickell has implemented his staff. The Badgers are visiting and offering in areas they have never been to while developing a new program.
Alexander was recruited by Paul Chryst and former staff members. The majority of the people Alexander had met with were no longer at the school. The 2024 prospect holds offers from USC, Iowa State, Nebraska, and Northern Illinois, all of which he picked up recently. With another year to grow as a player and earn more offers, there is no doubt that Alexander will be able to find the right fit for him.
