While the Wisconsin football staff has worked hard to land a top recruit from the state of Florida, an SEC school might derail plans.
Jayden Petit, a 2026 four-star receiver from Naples, Florida, has been closely tied to the Wisconsin football program and recently took an official visit. Petit had a great visit in Madison and spent plenty of time around Badgers commitment Tayshon Bardo and fellow 2026 wide receiver Zachary Washington. Following his visit to Wisconsin, the Badgers gained ground in the recruitment of Petit but might not be able to overcome a new foe and two familiar ones.
Missouri has locked-in an official visit with Petit after the recruit cancelled his visit with in-state favorite Miami. The Florida Gators are still a big player in the recruitment of Petit, but Miami appears to possible have fallen out of favor.

The Missouri Tigers are a program that Wisconsin has become very close to as of late due to more recruits being geographically located closer to Missouri. 2026 Kell High School defensive back duo Jowell Combay and Tony Forney have also been considering Missouri and each recruit booked an official visit with the program.
What Could Jayden Petit Offer the Wisconsin Football Offense?

Wisconsin has worked hard to become a major team in the eyes of Petit, and potentially losing a lead in the recruitment of Petit now would hurt.
Petit is ranked as a four-star recruit and the 203rd-overall recruit in the 2026 class for a reason on the field. When Petit steps foot on the field, the receiver is immediately a threat to potentially score given his balance of physical and mental talents.
Physically, Petit is a talented receiver with a 6-foot-4-inch, 195-pound frame that sets the receiver apart from most defensive backs. Petit is also an exceptional route runner with quick feet and a great release off of the line.
Mentally, Petit is a dynamic receiver due to his ability to process the field and find open space with ease. Once Petit gains on a defender in the open field, the receiver is gone. Petit consistently finds space in the field and regularly seems find a way to become open when his quarterback needs to get rid of the football.
