After a relatively quiet stretch for Wisconsin Badgers football recruiting, offers have once again been going out in droves. With the 2023 class about to kick off their first camp and the 2024 class for the most part set, sights have been set on the 2025 class. With the #JumpAroundMadtown25 locked in as the class slogan, things are heating up quickly.
Wisconsin Badger Football Offers
Garrett Martin (3-Star Edge)
Garrett Martin is a 3-star edge rusher out of Phoenix, Ariz. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound pass rusher already has an impressive offer list with offers from Oregon, TCU, and Arizona among others. The soon-to-be junior already has the ideal frame to be a productive pass rusher and will only get stronger as he matures physically.
Film Review: Martin has good closing speed to compliment his ideal size. He shows good agility to work his way around blockers and to stick with shiftier ball carriers. He also shows good strength to fight through waves of blockers to disrupt plays. Finally, he shows good discipline and doesn’t get stuck too far upfield allowing the quarterback to escape downfield.
Max Granville (4-Star Edge)
Max Granville is an impact edge rusher out of Houston, Tex. Granville is a 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds pass rushing demon that is already loaded with high-end offers. He’ll be starting his junior campaign in the coming weeks and is likely to put up eye-popping numbers.
Film Review: Granville shows an unbelievable combination of power, speed, and agility. He is lightning-fast around the edge and has the agility to work around tackles that have a quick first step. The biggest positive is he shows a variety of pass-rushing moves and doesn’t strictly rely on his physical abilities.
Ethan Long (4-Star DB)
Ethan Long is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back out of Greenwich, Conn. The 2025 recruit has offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State among others. Long has the ideal frame that Fickell and Co. have been looking for.
Film Review: Long plays safety and utilizes that size to be a ball hawk. He roams the secondary while reading the quarterback and reacting. The ball skills are impressive and Long shows the ability to create in open space. The instincts are there to be an impact-free safety at the next level.
Lex Cyrus (Unranked WR)
Lex Cyrus is a wide receiver prospect out of Harrisburg Pa. that is currently an unranked prospect. Cyrus may be overlooked a bit overall although he does have some impressive offers to this point. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound playmaker is known for his 4.3 40 and overall track speed.
Film Review: Cyrus is a slippery playmaker with game-changing straight-line speed. He isn’t a gadget player either as he shows good hands and the ability to adjust to the ball in the air. The route running is still raw but Cyrus is a versatile player that Longo could do a lot with.
Michael Carroll (3-Star OL/DL)
Michael Carroll is a 6-foot-5, 295-pound athlete out of Wyndmoor, Pa. The 3-star prospect is listed as an offensive and defensive lineman but he looks like he’ll be on the offensive side at the next level.
Film Review: Carroll looks like a nasty blocker, someone who is more than willing to finish blocks. He also seems to do a good job of taking advantage of defenders that aren’t disciplined and slightly lose their balance. He has the size to be a tackle at the next level but may have a skill set better suited for the interior of the line.
Marcello Vitti (ATH)
Marcello Vitti is a soon-to-be sophomore that Wisconsin Badgers football is hoping to get in on early. The Detroit, Mich. native played varsity his freshman year and looked impressive doing it. Vitti is 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds. He does a little bit of everything as he lists himself as a safety, nickel, cornerback, and running back.
Film Review: Let’s start with the stats for Vitti because they would be impressive for a senior, not to mention a freshman. He totaled 64 tackles, 10 for loss, 2 interceptions, 651 rushing yards, 163 receiving yards, and 10 total touchdowns. He is a do-it-all player that looks comfortable on both sides of the ball. He has speed and toughness in the open field on offense while being a sound tackling playmaker on defense. It’ll be exciting to see where he puts most of his focus as he matures.
Mason Alexander (3-Star DB/WR)
Mason Alexander is a 3-star athlete out of Fishers, Ind. The two-way player is closing in on the start of his junior season and already has offers from schools like Florida and Ole Miss. The 6-foot, 161-pound playmaker has a lean frame but could be a big-time different maker once he fills out.
Film Review: Alexander plays the Swiss army knife role for his team on defense. That more often than not has him lined up as a free safety but he lines up at cornerback as well. He has good speed which allows him to make plays on the ball and shows no fear when stepping up to make a tackle. Even with his lack of weight, he packs a punch. Although he does play offense as well, he’s more of a gadget player at this point with major playmaking ability.
Caleb Williams (4-Star DE)
Caleb Willams (not the USC quarterback) is a 4-star defensive end out of Virginia. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound pass rusher is built to get after quarterbacks. His recruiting has taken off as of late with offers from schools like Penn State, Tennessee, and South Carolina rolling in.
Film Review: Williams uses his big frame incredibly to cause havoc on defense. He’s able to disengage blockers with his long arms and has enough quickness to track down players thinking about escaping the backfield. He seems to be power over speed at the moment but that could improve as he matures physically.
More offers than this have gone out but my goal is to highlight a handful of athletes each week. The focus from the staff is now on the 2025 class and there are a lot of names to become familiar with. Coach Luke Fickell is building something huge and the 2025 class could be where it truly shows.
