It’s still a few months before the Wisconsin Badgers begin fall camp. However, it’s never early for over/under win totals to be released. DraftKings released their over/under wins for each Big Ten team. Rutgers was not included due to not being able to gamble on Rutgers in New Jersey.
Wisconsin With The Most Wins In The West
DraftKings has released their first over/under for the 2023 college football season. The Big Ten:
Michigan 10.5
Ohio State 10.5
Penn State 9.5
Wisconsin 9
Iowa 7.5
Maryland 7
Illinois 6.5
Minnesota 6.5
Nebraska 6
Michigan State 5.5
Purdue 5.5
Indiana 3.5
Northwestern 3.5— Robert Rosenthal (@ALionEye) May 5, 2023
As you can see above, Wisconsin has the highest win total in the Big Ten West with nine wins. Iowa is next with 7.5 wins. Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, Illinois, and Northwestern all follow. It’s clear the makers at DraftKings like what the Badgers are doing. Who can blame them? Wisconsin did some great work in the transfer portal. They have one of the better quarterbacks, running backs, and one of the deepest wide receiver rooms in the Big Ten.
If you add the experience coming back on the offensive line and the front seven on defense, Wisconsin should be looked at as the best team in the West right now. Obviously that could change later in the season.
Looking at the win totals for the others, I would have Iowa and Minnesota at over 7.5 and 6.5 respectively. Illinois, Purdue, Nebraska, and Northwestern seem fair.
Some Are Not Thrilled

It wouldn’t be a rivalry if your rivals didn’t buy this. In the comments of the tweet from Robert Rosenthal, it’s flooded with comments saying Wisconsin will win less than nine games and Minnesota will win more than six.
Man, I'd hammer the under on Wisconsin. Their schedule sets up pretty well for the crossovers (Rutgers at home, OSU at home, at Indiana) but I don't see nine wins with a new coach and a COMPLETELY new offensive philosophy.

I'm going to say it once now and leave it alone…
The Big Ten West should be a lot more concerned w/Iowa over the Badgers

Right now, I think the Big Ten West is a two team race between Iowa and Wisconsin. Both teams have gotten a ton of heat over the last few years with poor offense. However, both squads did great work in the portal and should be lot better on that side of the ball. Iowa travels to Madison on October 14.
As a Wisconsin fan, of course I’m going to say nine wins is fair. When you mix the veterans and talent brought in from the transfer portal with the current talent and experience, I don’t think this will be a big learning curve. Iowa also has a lot to figure out as well so it seems like either Iowa and Wisconsin should both hit the over or both hit the under. That argument doesn’t make a ton of sense.
We will see how it plays out, but it’s still early and lot can and will happen between now and September.
