Less than two months remain until Wisconsin football returns for fall camp in preparation for the 2024 season. The biggest addition to the offense was quarterback Tyler Van Dyke. He comes from Miami (FL) and is in his last year of eligibility. Tawee Walker is also new to the offense and is a transfer running back from Oklahoma.
The offense should be better in year two under offensive coordinator Phil Longo. There were glimpses of excellence last season, but also some growing pains. Coming into the 2024 season, here is what I think is the best group on the Wisconsin football offense and the group that has the most question marks.
Wisconsin Football Best Offensive Group- Wide Receiver

I am really excited about the potential of the Wisconsin football wide receivers. The Badgers did lose Chimere Dike and Skyler Bell to the the transfer portal. However, Will Pauling and Bryson Green, the top two receiving pass catchers from last year, return. Players like CJ Williams, Vinny Anthony, and Trech Kekahuna all return as well and are poised for larger roles.
Pauling, the leading receiver from last season, has the ability to be an all-conference wide receiver. I would not be surprised if he entered the 2025 NFL Draft. This group should help Van Dyke, especially early on. It’s a group that should put up points this season.
The player to keep an eye on in this group is Anthony. Early in spring, it felt that Green, Pauling, and Williams would be the top three receivers. Anthony had a really good spring season and will likely challenge Williams for the third starting spot in fall camp.
Group That Needs Improvement- Tight End

There is a ton of talented tight ends on this Wisconsin football roster. However, this group had very little production last year and are a young and unproven group headed into 2024. Hayden Rucci was the leader of the tight end group last year with only 11 catches.
Right now, it seems as if there is a battle between Riley Nowakowski and Tucker Ashcraft for the starting job. They do bring in Grant Stec, Rob Booker, and LSU transfer Jackson McGohan.
I think this could be an interesting battle in fall camp. McGohan brings in some experience while Booker and Stec have a lot of upside. There could be more snaps and production as the season goes along, but it feels like a two man race between Nowakowski and Ashcraft. Expect a 50/50 usage between the two to begin the season.
