Wisconsin football has seen a lot of its players enter the transfer portal for the 2025 season, including a total of eight outgoing assets from the Badgers’ secondary.
However, Wisconsin got some good news recently on that front, with the Badgers scoring a transfer portal win by landing the commitment of Jacksonville State Gamecocks cornerback Geimere Latimer II. Latimer announced his commitment to Wisconsin football on Tuesday, via X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter).
“Badger nation what’s good?!” Latimer posted along with edited photos of himself in a Wisconsin uniform. He will don the real Badgers threads soon, as he looks forward to helping Wisconsin’s defense that finished the regular season 47th in the nation with 24.0 points allowed per game and 14th with 183.5 passing yards surrendered per contest.
Latimer played his first two years in college with the Gamecocks, compiling four interceptions and 56 combined tackles to go along with a forced fumble. The Tyrone, Georgia native is also the third defensive back (first cornerback) Wisconsin football has landed in the first window of the transfer portal. The other two are safeties Matt Jung from the Bethel Royals and Matthew Traynor from the Richmond Spiders.
Wisconsin football fans react to Geimere Latimer’s commitment
Latimer’s announcement has been met with kind words from Wisconsin Badgers fans.
“Happy to have you!”
“Go be great family. Now I gotta watch Badger football. Always happy to see the youngins prosper.💯”
“Thank you for your belief in the program.”
“It’s cold up here, bring the heat!!”
“Congrats! Best of luck in Madison.”
In his last game for Jacksonville State, Latimer recorded four total tackles and a pass defended in the Jaguars’ 30-27 loss to the Ohio Bobcats in the StaffDNA Cure Bowl at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
