While the chaos of Bucky’s BBQ will unfold on campus, the Wisconsin football staff will invite an interesting prospect back in for a visit.
Mason Oglesby, a 2027 tight end and outside linebacker, is a native of Indiana and has been closely tied to Wisconsin within the 2027 class thus far. Oglesby is a talented athlete who has the ability and frame to play on either offense or defense at the collegiate level. However, the Wisconsin football staff sees a potential elite linebacker in Oglesby as coach Matt Mitchell had the opportunity to extend a scholarship offer.

Currently, Ogelsby is not ranked but by all accounts is considered to be one of the top recruits set to hit the databases. 247Sports reporter Nick Osen predicts Ogelsby will develop into a high three-star or four-star recruit once entered into the system.
The Wisconsin football staff recently offered Oglesby a scholarship in May on the defensive side of the football. Oglesby has also drawn plenty of interest from college programs as a tight end, and given the right circumstance the recruit could play offense.
With a frame of 6-feet-4-inches and roughly 220-pounds, Oglesby is an athletic force on either side of play which could work to the advantage of the Wisconsin Badgers.
How Could Mason Oglesby Fit Into the Wisconsin Football Team?

While Wisconsin offered Oglesby to play defense, the recruit will likely become someone the staff does all sorts of things on the field with.
Oglesby possesses a rare athleticism for a linebacker and given the issues creating pressure that Wisconsin has had, attacking the quarterback could be the primary use of the athlete. Additionally, Oglesby could also become a special teams standout given the vision and high-motor play of the recruit.
As mentioned, Oglesby possesses a massive 6-foot-4-inch frame that will certainly allow for the linebacker to stand out at the next level. Wisconsin has fallen in love with physical freaks when recruiting and finding another one with the same size and skill set as Oglesby in the 2027 recruiting class will be a very tough task.
The upcoming visit for the recruit will be a pivotal one as the Wisconsin football staff hopes to kickstart a relationship before Oglesby truly sees his recruitment build.
