Following a scholarship offer from the Wisconsin football staff, a top wide receiver could find his way onto campus sooner than later.
Lawrence Britt, the third-overall wide receiver in the 2027 recruiting class, picked up another power four offer after Wisconsin joined the pursuit. Britt plays receiver and plays the position extremely well, but has also been considered an athlete given his ability on defense as well.
The Wisconsin football program joins fellow Big Ten Conference members Oregon and USC in the hunt for a productive future collegiate athlete.
Wisconsin Football Extends Scholarship to 2027 Four-Star Lawrence Britt

After seeing a dynamic athlete shred opposing teams on film, Wisconsin football outside linebackers and special teams coach Matt Mitchell knew there was something unique.
Standing in at 6-feet-2-inches, and roughly 180-pounds, Britt is both the worst nightmare a secondary can face and the best-friend of a quarterback. The wide receiver has made a name for himself as a do-it-all kind of player who can run with the football, attack open space, and also hurt defenses in the screen game.
Coach Mitchell had the opportunity to extend an offer to Britt, and took the time to also have a conversation with the recruit. Following the offer, Britt stated, “We had a great conversation and I felt a connection [to coach Mitchell].”
The talented receiver also added that he has not spoken to the rest of the staff ‘yet’ but added that he is ‘planning a date to get up there soon.’
As far as the recruiting process goes, the four-star standout stated, “Everyday I’m taking it [the recruiting process] step-by-step. I’m always going to listen to what they [the staff] have to say and see what I like. I will be making a decision along the way.”
What Would Lawrence Britt Offer the Wisconsin Football Team on the Field?

While Mitchell has worked hard for the Wisconsin football staff to develop a relationship with Britt, the value the athlete provides on the field appears clear.
In a highlight video from the athlete, Britt showcases his true abilities as an all-around player on the field. Britt has dynamic clips of rushes, screens, tackles, scores, and breakups. The little bit of everything that Britt can do makes for the dream of a coach, and in particular a coach like Mitchell who is looking for the freakish athletes.
Often, giving out the ‘freakish’ label is rather difficult and reserved only for the top of the top, the most elite athletes. After watching the film of Britt, it becomes easy to slide the athlete into said category due to the clear difference in athleticism between Britt and his opponents.
On the defensive side of the ball, the talented wide receiver is an accomplished tackler and a magnet for the football. Britt consistently ends each play within the action and never seems to take plays off. The high motor play of Britt makes for a capable defender that can provide excellent consistency to a defense.
On the offensive side of the football, Britt is a dangerous player due to the blend of speed, balance, and vision that is possessed. The athlete consistently makes plays in the open field where opposing players have a difficult time bringing the receiver down. Britt is also a solid receiver physically, and often bigger defenders are needed to fully bring Britt down.
