Saturday marks one of the biggest non-conference home games at Camp Randall Stadium in Wisconsin football program history. The Badgers welcome #4 Alabama for an 11 AM kickoff on Saturday. As a part of a home and home series, Wisconsin football will travel to Tuscaloosa next season. The first two games haven’t been as dominating as mist Badger fans would have thought. Everything needs to go right on Saturday. Here is what Wisconsin football needs to do for a massive upset win.
Wisconsin Football Has to Keep Jalen Milroe One Dimensional
Of the 15 touchdowns in the first two games for the Crimson Tide, quarterback Jalen Milroe is responsible for nine of them (four passing and four rushing). If Wisconsin football has any shot to keep this game close int he second half, the defense has to take away one of his capabilities.
How do you do that? You find a good balance of keeping him in the pock yet uncomfortable. Milroe has yet to throw an interception yet this year too. I like where the Wisconsin football defense is in the passing game, but they will be challenged downfield for the first time. The front seven will be a crucial role in this game.
The Wisconsin Football Defense Has to Force Multiple Turnovers
Alabama has lost four fumbles in the first two games. Any opportunity the Wisconsin football defense is given, they have to take advantage of it. Preventing long drives and explosive plays will be key in this game.
The Wisconsin football defense has not forced many turnovers on their end. I think they have to force multiple turnovers to hang around in this game. On the other side, they have to be perfect on the offensive side. It’s a big ask, but it’s what you need to do in order to beat one of the top teams in the country.
Play Loose and Nothing to Lose
Wisconsin football is seen as a 16 point underdog on Saturday. I think it’s going to be hard to even cover that. No one in the country is expecting this team to pull off the upset. In a way, that’s how you want it to be.
Because of the 12 team playoff, a loss for Alabama isn’t the end of the world, but a road win against a power 4 team looks good on the College Football Playoff resume. Wisconsin has nothing to lose in this game and I want to see it played like that.
Everything should be on the table. Fake plays, trick plays, the whole nine yards. If the opportunity presents itself, I want to see the Badgers take advantage of it and get the Camp Randall crowd rocking early, It’s a crowd that is hard to get back once they are out of the game. 2-1 is not a big deal going into a bye week. I want to see Wisconsin football lay it all out from the playbook this weekend,
