The Wisconsin football staff has loved what they have seen from a certain 2027 recruit bound to touch down in Madison again in the future.
Colton Nussmeier, a 2027 quarterback recruit from Texas, has already begun to receive major collegiate attention. The quarterback has already been through the process once before, as he is the brother of LSU starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. During a recent interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, Nussmeier revealed he would “love” to visit Madison again in the future.
Wisconsin Football Staff Targeting 2027 QB Colton Nussmeier, Brother of Garrett Nussmeier
Late in January of this year, the Wisconsin football staff extended a scholarship to 2027 quarterback Colton Nussmeier. Nussmeier, the brother of LSU starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, has already collected a handful of scholarships. The quarterback holds offers to Baylor, North Carolina, and Oklahoma State among plenty of others.
Since the offer, Nussmeier has touched down in Madison for a skills camp ran by the Wisconsin football staff. During the camp, Nussmeier had the chance to speak with the staff and experience what Madison truly is like.
Colton Nussmeier: “The Overall Experience Was Great and I Would Love to Go Back”
Nussmeier has spent a brief amount of time on campus in the past, attending a Wisconsin football camp where he had the opportunity to meet with the staff. When asked about the experience, Nussmeier stated, “When I went to the Wisconsin camp it was a great experience. The coaches treated me great and the facilities were very cool.”
The quarterback went on to state, “I really liked the atmosphere and the city around it. The overall experience was great and I would love to go back.”
Quarterbacks Coach Phil Longo loves what he sees in Nussmeier, and had watched the recruit closely during this past season. The quarterback has a sharp knowledge of opposing defenses and plays the position very maturely for his age and experience level. Nussmeier stated, “I think I recognize defenses very well and I am able to find their weaknesses and know where to attack them.”
Wisconsin Badgers Football Program Could Become Future Home of Nussmeier
For the quarterback, the Wisconsin football program has been impressive, but it is still very early in his recruitment. When asked about his interest in various schools, Nussmeier stated, “I really don’t know what schools I have high interest in right now. It’s super early in the process so I don’t really have any top options.”
Nussmeier is going to take the process slow and use the knowledge he has learned from his brother to guide his process.
For the Wisconsin football staff, keeping close contact and bringing Nussmeier back on campus in the future is going to be key. Nussmeier is in it for the long haul, and the staff will have to be as well in order to become a high interest program in the future.
