After their successful off-season, the Wisconsin football team has been voted as one of the most ‘Dangerous’ programs heading into next season.
In a recent list of teams released by 247 Sports, the staff ranked the top ten most dangerous teams heading into this upcoming NCAA football season. The Wisconsin football team not only added a brand-new staff, but also an entirely different offense. With the right changes and additions in place, the Badgers have found themselves in the fourth spot on the list.
Wisconsin Badgers Snag Fourth Spot On Most Recent ‘Dangerous’ Teams To Watch List
Recently, 247 Sports analysts and staff members created a list of the top ten most ‘Dangerous’ teams going into the 2023 season. The criteria that determined the rankings consisted of the strength, depth, and ability of the team. The top spot in the rankings would be given to the team with the most all-around ability on the gridiron. After making staff and team changes, the Wisconsin Badgers football team found themselves on the 247 Sports list given their new talent.
The list that 247 Sports released listed the teams as followed:
- Texas
- University of Southern California
- Penn State
- Wisconsin
- Tennessee
- South Carolina
- Kansas State
- Texas A&M
- University of California-Los Angeles
- Tulane
After landing quarterback Arch Manning and a stacked recruiting class, Texas has brought the spotlight back onto themselves. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has been busy building a whole new staff for the Longhorns, including former Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst. Texas went 8-5 a year ago, losing in the Valero Alamo Bowl 27-20 against the Washington Huskies. The Longhorns bring back starting quarterback Quinn Ewers and leading receiver Xavier Worthy to lead a star-studded team.
Both USC and Penn State have had mixed success in the transfer portal with each roster enduring multiple entrances and exits. The Trojans went 11-3 this past season, losing their bowl game to Tulane, another team appearing on this list. USC will continue to be one of the most dynamic and lethal teams under the guidance of Caleb Williams. As for the Nittany Lions, this upcoming season will be a chance to display a new quarterback after Sean Clifford joined the Green Bay Packers.
Coming in at the fourth spot, the Wisconsin football team has put together one of the more impressive rosters in college football. The Wisconsin Badgers football team is balanced with their composition consisting of versatile veterans and experienced transfers. Wisconsin has put together a team with enough talent on the field and on the sideline to propel them to a Big Ten Championship berth.
What Really Makes The Wisconsin Football Team ‘Dangerous’?
While many may argue the teams included on the list, there is also an argument for the Badgers to be ranked higher. The Wisconsin football team has combined experienced quarterback Tanner Mordecai with offensive guru Phil Longo. Along with adding Mordecai, the Badgers have also completely revamped their receiving room with the additions of CJ Williams, Quincy Burroughs, and Will Pauling among others.
What can really set the Wisconsin football team apart this upcoming season is the balance of talent on the team. The Badgers have re-done their offense to add to arguably the top running back in the country in Braelon Allen. Along with this, the Badgers also have a strong defense that is eager to force turnovers. Wisconsin is poised to be one of the strongest teams in the country this upcoming season as opponents will dread visiting Madison.
