Saturday will be the biggest non-conference home game for Wisconsin football maybe ever. It’s been a game on fans schedule for years. The Badgers will welcome #4 Alabama into Camp Randall Stadium. It’t a part of a home and home schedule where the Badger will travel to Alabama next year. Wisconsin football has an under-whelming 2-0 record after struggling with an FCS team and a non-power 4 team. It could be a long afternoon Saturday. Here is an early look at Alabama.
Wisconsin Football Must Contain Jalen Milroe
The Crimson Tide still have a ton of faces they have to replace from last season. However, quarterback Jalen Milroe is back and that is who the Wisconsin football defense must stop. Milroe is a threat with his arms and with his legs. Out of the 15 touchdowns the Alabama defense has scored in the first two games, Milroe is responsible for nine of them (five passing and four rushing).
Wisconsin football quarterback Tyler Van Dyke has thrown for more yards than Milroe, but it’s clear he is a hige part of what the Crimson Tide want to do. This will be the first power 4 team they face this year. It is also the first true road game for first year head coach Kalen DeBoer.
Alabama Has Been Prone to Fumbles
In two games, Alabama has lost four fumbles. Part of that likely has to do with a new offense and getting into their rhythm, but that is worth noting these first two games were at home and against non power 4 teams.
The Wisconsin football defense has to generate multiple turnovers Saturday. There is no question about it. There is not enough fire power on the Wisconsin football offense to get into a shootout with Alabama. They have been prone to putting the ball on the ground these first two weeks. It could be a good chance for defensive coordinator Mike Tressel.
An Explosive Offense
15 touchdowns is a ton over the course of two games, regardless who the opponents are. Alabama has also scored over 100 points and are averaging 52.5 points a game so far. This is team that can score in a hurry.
Last week, the Crimson Tide was in a fight with South Florida. They were able to score 28 points in the final six minutes of the game to blow out the Bulls. Alabama can turn it up a notch anytime they want with the talent they have. Wisconsin football does not and can’t do it. They have to make both sides of the ball for Alabama uncomfortable all game. Otherwise, there is little to no shot for a huge upset Saturday.
