The Wisconsin football staff has been busy working to find recruit they feel represent the team the best and might have found just the defender.
Ace Brown, a three-star linebacker and edge rusher in the 2026 recruiting class, has become a recruiting target to watch for the Wisconsin staff. Brown is a talented defender who is currently listed as an athlete due to his ability to slide around on the defensive side of the ball. While Wisconsin has been interested in Brown, Kentucky, Pitt, Toledo, and Cincinnati are the teams that have been keeping the closest relationship with the defender ahead of a potential breakout season.
Wisconsin Football Staff Keeping Close Eye on Talented Athlete Ace Brown
The Wisconsin Badgers football staff has been diligently working to find athletes and so called ‘Dawgs’ on the gridiron who want to compete. One such individual the staff has recently come in contact with is 2026 three-star athlete Ace Brown. Brown is currently considered an athlete because of his ability to play multiple defensive positions and even tight end, but primarily Brown is used as an edge rusher.
Brown is a native of Youngstown, Ohio but has traveled to Akron in order to attend the notable Archbishop Hoban High School. The school has produced some top level talent on the football field such as Tyrell Sutton, LaTroy Lewis, and James Harrison for one semester. Currently the school has four of the top 50 recruits in the 2026 recruiting class in the state of Ohio.
The athlete is entering a pivotal junior season that could result in a massive bump in both offers and collegiate attention moving forward. Brown has worked diligently to prepare himself for the season and plans on displaying his full capabilities on the field. The junior grew nearly three inches and in doing so has created a new avenue of play for himself with his length.
Brown currently holds four scholarship offers from Bowling Green, Kentucky, Toledo, and Miami of Ohio. Brown does not have a scholarship from Wisconsin yet but has received plenty of attention from them along with Pitt and Cincinnati, who have also not offered a scholarship. Michigan, West Virginia, Ohio State, and Penn State have all been in contact with Brown recently as well.
What Would Brown Potentially Offer the Wisconsin Badgers Football Defense?
Brown has been drawing plenty of interest from collegiate coaches and programs ahead of his 2024 season, and it is largely due to style of play he possesses. At 6-feet-5-inches and roughly 215-pounds, Brown uses his length and speed to slip past opposing blockers with relative ease. When Brown is on the field, the opposing quarterback must get rid of the ball quick otherwise the defender will record a sack.
The athlete has an array of moves and a variety of avenues to the quarterback and regularly uses his entire arsenal. However, the most effective move on tape from Brown is his spin move which creates exceptional separation and often results in Brown making a big play. Brown also has an exceptional release and is able to disengage with a lineman and make the necessary tackle.
Brown is not just a lengthy speed rusher on defense either, as he also possesses impressive strength that allows him to move opposing blockers backwards. The defender has a great feel for the game and understands what moves will work against different types of offenses. The intelligence and utilization of his entire bag of skills could be what truly sets the athlete apart this upcoming season.
For the Wisconsin football staff, utilizing Brown in their defense is something the staff has had no issue thinking about. The athlete is quick and lengthy off of the edge and fits the mold of an edge rusher in the Wisconsin defense. Brown can get to the quarterback and will sacrifice his body in order to do so, which is something that the staff truly loves to see.
Wisconsin has been predominantly recruiting bigger, more physical edge rushers the past two years but may look to break that trend with Brown. The speed of the edge rusher also allows for him to chase down running backs and break off blocks for quick tackles. That style of play out of Brown could certainly become what the Badgers envision when placing the defender on the field.
The Wisconsin football staff has reportedly looked at Brown as a tight end prospect as well, given his size and great hands for his current position. Brown could potentially play tight end in college, but he seems to have more potential offers as an outside linebacker or an edge rusher depending on the scheme. While this could throw a wrench in any decisions, Brown is committed to focusing on the classroom before taking a scheme or staff into account.
