The Wisconsin football team suffered an unfortunate injury and offensive setbacks that caused an insurmountable lead for the Crimson Tide.
The Wisconsin football team is now 2-1 to start the season after suffering a terrible defeat to the Alabama Crimson Tide that largely was due to their own mistakes. The Badgers fumbled four times and made multiple mental errors that allowed for the Crimson Tide to take control of the game. Once Alabama gets rolling, they are impossible to stop, and Wisconsin found that out the hard way unfortunately.
Wisconsin Football Struggles Through Rough Alabama Crimson Tide Clash
The Wisconsin football team will have to limp back to the drawing board after suffering a difficult loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. It is not as if Wisconsin expected to beat the brakes of the Crimson Tide, but rather that the team expected to keep the game competitive. However, mistakes on offense led to easy scores for the Alabama offense, which is something Wisconsin could not allow coming into the game.
Wisconsin struggled to every really establish themselves on offense against the Crimson Tide like they needed to per their pre-game keys. Instead, the Badgers truly shot themselves in the foot as they turned the ball over multiple times and gave the Crimson Tide a short field far too often. Alabama is a quick, savvy team and they make the most of mistakes that the opposing team makes, which Wisconsin has discovered.
What did the Wisconsin Badgers Football Team do Right, do Wrong Against Alabama?
It is certainly easy to start with the bad, but Wisconsin did do plenty of good during the game. Backup quarterback, and now likely starter moving forward, Braedyn Locke struggled early taking some massive hits. After Locke made some mistakes with ball control and his internal clock, the quarterback seemed to settle down and show some promise.
Outside of Locke, there was not much ‘good’ that really occurred on the football field for the Wisconsin football team. Even when the defense began to look good, they were forced back onto the field continuously by the Wisconsin offense turning the ball over. The defense was a step slow and far too inconsistent against Alabama, stuffing the Crimson Tide one play and then struggling to make a tackle the next.
The same can be said about the offense as they would break off positive plays, and then erase it with bad errors that came in the form of fumbles. Wisconsin had zero ball security on offense and even veteran players like Chez Mellusi fumbled, which is not a good look. Mellusi and the veterans struggling leads into the next thing Wisconsin did poorly, which was play mental football.
The Badgers lost the mental game almost immediately and that was apparent as the defense was consistently out of position. Alabama scored with ease as the defense struggled to stay with the Crimson Tide receivers and maintain their assignments. Fumbling as a running back is already frowned upon, but continuing to make that mistake as a veteran as well is not a good look for Mellusi.
