The Wisconsin Badgers have worked frivolously to secure the state as their own. Starting and maintaining pipelines requires an expert amount of skill and a balance of attention between all areas. Wisconsin has been a battle in particular for top recruits, but the Badgers may have shifted their sights to one specific 2024 in-state recruit.
Wisconsin Battling In Corey Smith Sweepstakes
Anyone who has kept up to date with high school and college football in Wisconsin has surely heard of Corey Smith. The second overall ranked player in the state and the 14th ranked running back in the 2024 class is spectacular. Standing at five foot eleven inches and 170 pounds, Smith is quite the speed threat from the backfield and often makes defenders pay.

Smith was responsible for 29 total touchdowns this year, including 26 rushing touchdowns and a kick return touchdown. He also rushed for 1302 yards and recorded 1825 all-purpose yards as a Junior. In Smith’s highlight reel from this past season, he can be seen flying past defenders and cutting through blockers. He has an eye for moving the ball up field and finding the nearest portion of open field.
Currently, Smith has over 20 high-level offers thus far after his mind-blowing season. Nearly every state award for a running back was given to Smith, and he knows this is just the start of his recruitment. Smith has made it known on Social Media that his recruitment will stay open. Not only does this give the Badgers quite a chance, but more major programs are likely to join.
Can The Wisconsin Badgers Realistically Secure Smith?
In recent weeks, Smith has been silent, only updating his page with new offers. Due to how open his recruitment currently is, it would be a great time for Wisconsin to coordinate a visit with Smith to try and persuade him during his recruitment. Continuing to stay on top of recruiting in the state is just part of the puzzle, but Corey Smith will certainly be a major piece.
It may seem like a long shot to some due to his stature and recent success. However, Smith will likely become a priority for the Badgers as he gets closer to making his decision. Most schools are putting together their 2024 recruiting classes at this point in time. Therefore, Smith should receive a bundle of offers before too long. The Badgers will have to maintain contact with Smith to ultimately land him.
