The Wisconsin Badgers are finally back in the win column. After three consecutive losses, Wisconsin basketball broke out of a slump with an 83-74 win at Kohl Center in Madison on Saturday over the visiting Butler Bulldogs.
The No. 20 Badgers heavily leaned on the duo of sophomore forward Nolan Winter and senior big man Steven Crowl against the Bulldogs. Winter led all Wisconsin basketball scorers with 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the field to go with eight rebounds, an assist and a block in 29 minutes of action.
Steven Crowl bounces back to help Wisconsin basketball end funk
Crowl, on the other hand, muscled out 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting to go along with six boards and an assist – all in just 17 minutes of work.
After the game, the Wisconsin On BTN X account shared a post flexing Crowl’s big performance, which Winter re-shared with a caption that reads: “Yeaaaaa Steve💪💪”
Crowl surely responded the right way to his letdown performance in the previous Wisconsin outing.
Wisconsin basketball entered the Butler game on the heels of losses to the Michigan Wolverines, No. 5 Marquette Golden Eagles and Illinois Fighting Illini. In the Illinois contest, Crowley only had nine points and, even more perplexing, was the fact that he failed to grab a single rebound versus the Fighting Illini despite playing 19 minutes and standing seven feet tall.
Wisconsin basketball improved to 9-3 overall following its Butler takedown. The Badgers should be able to take care of business in their next game, as they will be facing the Detroit Mercy Titans (ranked 318 on KenPom) on Dec. 22 at home.
