Wisconsin basketball scored like an elite NBA offense on Friday. There was nothing the visiting Iowa Hawkeyes could do against the Badgers in Madison in the meeting between the Big Ten rivals, as Wisconsin had its way on offense from start to finish to post a 117-85 victory.
Just how good was Wisconsin’s offense in the Badgers’ wild takedown of the Hawkeyes?
For starters, the 21 3-pointers they made were the most in Wisconsin basketball history, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).
There’s also this via OptaSTATS:
Wisconsin (@BadgerMBB) against Iowa today:
115+ points
60.0+ FG%
65.0+ 3P%
85.0+ FT%No other DI team (men or women) has done that against another DI opponent in the last 25 seasons.
Wisconsin basketball’s fiery offense was too much to handle for Iowa
John Blackwell had the biggest performance among Badgers players, as he lit up the Hawkeyes for 32 points on 11-for-18 shooting from the field. He knocked down six 3-pointers to go with eight rebounds and five assists. Nolan Winter and John Tonje chipped in 18 and 12 points, respectively, while Kamari McGee came off the bench and fired 12 points with four 3-pointers. Six Wisconsin basketball players had at least two 3-pointers in the contest and no one shot worse than 50 percent from the field.
Wisconsin isn’t going to shoot that well all the time, but it will be interesting to see whether the Badgers can stay hot this Monday when they visit the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Jersey Mike’s Arena in Piscataway, New Jersey this Monday.
