The No. 18 Wisconsin basketball is coming off an 83-55 win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers at home on Sunday. It was an impressive victory for the Badgers not only because of the wide scoring margin but also because they still had that kind of energy to take care of business despite playing on the heels of back-to-back games away from Madison.
But the road adventure is far from over for the Badgers, who will be playing four of their next five games in enemy territories, beginning with a matchup against the Maryland Terrapins at XFINITY Center in College Park this coming Wednesday.
Asked for his thoughts on Wisconsin basketball’s tough schedule (six road games in an eight-game stretch), Badgers head coach Greg Gard tries to downplay it by putting everything into perspective.
“There’s much more difficult things in life that you could be doing than changing time zones playing basketball,” Gard told reporters, per Zach Heilprin of The Zone.
Fans react to Wisconsin basketball HC Greg Gard’s take

Some fans seem to think that what Gard said was a shot at UCLA head coach Mick Cronin, who had a blunt take on Big Ten teams hitting the road to play games out west.
“Not so subtle shot at Mick Cronin, a fan said.”
“Whatever you do, DO NOT SHOW THIS TO MICK CRONIN,” another one commented.
“Trolling mick Cronin. Love it,” commented another social media user.
“UCLA coach disagrees,” chimed in a commenter.
“Direct shot at Cronin,” via a fan.
“I like Mick Cronin. The guy is a great coach. I love the subtle shot across the bow at Mick Cronin, as well. It isn’t nuclear physics,” another comment read.
The Badgers are 16-4 with a 6-3 record against Big Ten teams. After the Maryland game, they will be visiting the Northwestern Wildcats on Feb. 1 before a home game against the Indiana Hoosiers on Feb. 4. After that, Wisconsin will play the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Purdue Boilermakers, both on the road, on Feb. 15 and 18, respectively.
