As expected, Wisconsin basketball demolished the Detroit Mercy Titans on Sunday. The Badgers were simply too much for the Titans, as Greg Gard’s squad came away with a 76-53 win at Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
The frontcourt duo of sophomore forward Nolan Winter and senior Steven Crowl did the heavy lifting for the Badgers, as they scored 18 and 15 points, respectively, while also combining for 15 rebounds and two blocks.
“I thought the two bigs were good and efficient,” Gard said following Wisconsin basketball’s win (h/t Mike Hall of Badgers Wire). “We didn’t shoot the three great, but I thought we had really good looks and defensively did a lot of good things to keep the ball out of the paint for the most part. In the first half, they only had one basket at the rim. By and large, a pretty workmanlike effort.”
Wisconsin basketball crush Detroit Mercy in Badgers’ last game of 2024
The Badgers made life hard on the glass for Detroit. Wisconsin had 50 rebounds to just 34 by the Titans. Wisconsin shot just 40.6 percent from the floor and hit only seven of its 35 attempts from behind the arc but the Badgers got plenty of second chances with 16 offensive rebounds to their name.
The Badgers, who are 15th in the nation with a 120.0 adjusted offensive rating, are now 10-3 overall and will next face the Iowa Hawkeyes on Jan. 3 at Kohl Center.
