Former Wisconsin basketball star is reuniting with his former NBA team. According to Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports, Kaminsky is joining the Phoenix Suns along with two other players.

“Officially official: The Suns announce they have signed Mamadi Diakite, Frank Kaminsky and Moses Wood. Terms were undisclosed but they’ll be competing for a shot at the Suns’ 15th roster spot. Diakite will wear No. 25, Kaminsky will wear No. 47 and Wood will wear No. 17.”

Kaminsky is not a new face for the Suns, as he spent three seasons before with Phoenix. From the 2019-20 NBA season to the 2021-22 campaign, Kaminsky averaged 8.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists through 95 games (26 starts) while also shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from behind the arc.

As mentioned by Bourguet, there is no assurance at the moment that Kaminsky, who played four seasons with Wisconsin basketball, will be able to make the final roster of the Suns for the 2024-25 season.

However, it’s not a stretch to expect him to beat out Diakite and Wood for the spot. Kaminsky entered the NBA in 2015 when he was taken in the first round by the Charlotte Hornets as that year’s ninth overall pick. In the summer of 2019, Kaminsky signed a one-year deal with the Suns that had a team option for the next season. Phoenix declined that but the Suns later claimed off of waivers and signed him to another one-year deal. Kaminsky also had stints with the Atlanta Hawks and the Houston Rockets.

In 2023, Kaminsky took his talents overseas, as he signed a deal with the Partizan Mozzart Bet of the Basketball League of Serbia.
