Wisconsin basketball Steven Crowl stands seven feet tall, but that is hard to tell based on the number of rebounds he grabbed during the Badgers’ 86-80 loss Tuesday night at the hands of the Illinois Fighting Illini at State Farm Center in Champaign.
Crowl was a big letdown for the Badgers in the Illinois game. He scored just nine points on an inefficient 3-for-9 shooting from the floor. What was more infuriating was the fact that he played 19 minutes and failed to register at least a rebound versus the Fighting Illini.
Wisconsin basketball big man Steven Crowl gets the ire of fans after loss to Illinois
Wisconsin basketball head coach Greg Gard expressed his dismay over his team and Crowl’s effort on the glass following the game. Fans online also called out Crowl for his zero-rebound night.
“Steven Crowl is 7 feet tall and a senior and has 0 rebounds at half. How the actual [expletive] do people think this kid is even decent? He does everything very meh, but nothing very good. Poor shooting, speed, rim protection,” one X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter) said.
From another X user: “Steven Crowl should come off the bench. Other than that… Free throws uncharacteristically average today, poor rebounding. Onto the next.”
“You don’t deserve nil money, you put me in and I guarantee I’m getting at least 1 rebound,” snapped another fan.
“Also Steven Crowl with 0 rebounds concerns me with effort seeing Illinois get 15 offensive rebounds,” another commented posted.
Via a different comment: “The Worst Player in the Country, Steven Crowl, as a 7 footer, just went an entire game without a rebound.”
“Hmmmm let’s check how many rebounds Steven Crowl had tonight? Can you help me out? How many rebounds did he have?”
