Former Wisconsin Badger and Chicago Bears linebacker Jack Sanborn plans to sign with the Cowboys on a one-year deal. He reunited with defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus and linebackers coach Dave Borgonzi, who coached him for three years in Chicago on his way to 164 tackles, 14 for loss.

His reliable key skills enhance his remarkable instincts and talent for making plays on the ball, along with his exceptional awareness. He has played a total of 978 defensive snaps and 816 special teams snaps.

Since joining the NFL as an undrafted free agent from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Jack has surpassed all expectations. Despite being the leading tackler for the Badgers for three straight seasons, Sanborn was still overlooked in the 2022 NFL Draft.
In his inaugural career start against the Detroit Lions on November 13, 2022, Sanborn achieved 12 tackles and two sacks. Regrettably, his season ended prematurely due to an ankle injury.

Sanborn’s departure is a significant blow to the Bears’ defense and the fanbase. His football IQ, consistent hustle, and leadership qualities were invaluable both on and off the field.

Sanborn transitioned to the strong-side linebacker position in 2023, and he was on ESPN’s 2023 “All-Youngster Team. Losing a player who embodied the spirit and determination that fans admire creates a void that will be challenging to fill.
