The Wisconsin Badgers and the Western Michigan Broncos will begin the college football season on Friday, August 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. This college football game will be televised on FS1.
The Badgers want to get off in the win column to start the 2024 season. As for the Broncos of the MAC Conference, they want to prepare themselves for MAC Conference play later in the 2024 college football season.
Western Michigan Broncos Running Back Jalen Buckley Is Another Player To Watch For Against the Wisconsin Badgers
The Broncos’ best offensive player on the roster may not be quarterback Hayden Wolff. Sophomore running back Jalen Buckley might be the best player on the team. A season ago as a freshman, he rushed for 1,003 yards on 189 carries and 10 touchdowns. Buckley averaged 5.3 yards per carry. Jalen Buckley also caught 18 passes for 161 yards receiving and averaged 8.9 yards per reception. He didn’t have a receiving touchdown, however.
A season ago, the Broncos faced the Syracuse Orange and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Against Syracuse, Buckley rushed for 87 yards on eight carries and a touchdown. Against Iowa, he struggled a little bit with 30 yards rushing on 14 carries. The point is, that Buckley is a player that the Wisconsin Badgers defense can not take lightly on Friday night.
Buckley Was Fifth In the MAC Conference In Rushing Yards a Season Ago
As a freshman last season, Buckley was fifth in the MAC Conference in rushing yards. Peny Boone of the Toledo Rockets led the league in rushing yards with 1,400. This season, Jalen Buckley could repeat the same performance once again for the Western Michigan Broncos.
If he has a good outing against the Badgers, it will catch people’s attention. Jalen Buckley could very well be a Top-5 rusher in the MAC Conference again this season. If he were to do that and since he is only a sophomore, it could catch the attention of some NFL scouts moving forward.
