The Wisconsin Badgers finished with a 27-10 record during the 2024-2025 college basketball season. Wisconsin is looking to play some quality opponents outside of the conference for the 2025-2026 college basketball season and beyond.

One opponent that is expected to play the Badgers is the Villanova Wildcats from the Big East Conference. Villanova finished with a 21-15 record in 2024-2025 and they missed the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year.
Wisconsin Badgers and Villanova Wildcats Expected To Play Each Other For Next Two Seasons (Report)

On Friday, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports posted on his Twitter page an update about Wisconsin’s out of conference scheduling for the 2025-2026 season. Rothstein said,
“NEWS: Wisconsin and Villanova are finalizing an agreement to meet on December 19th at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, according to multiple sources. Return game at Wells Fargo Center in 2026-27.”
This would be a big deal for both programs. Wisconsin has been in the NCAA tournament for the last couple of seasons under head coach Greg Gard. Villanova has a new head coach at the guard with Kevin Willard after firing Kyle Neptune. Willard is looking to get the Wildcats back to the NCAA tournament for the 2025-2026 season.
Wisconsin already has its 2025-2026 BIG10 Conference schedule announced. The full schedule for the 2025-2026 season has not been announced yet, but Villanova being on the schedule makes things clearer for this Badgers program.
