The Wisconsin Badgers have added another wide receiver to the roster after landing a former top ranked four-star recruit from the state of Nebraska.

Former four-star Lincoln East (NE) wide receiver Malachi Coleman announced his commitment to Wisconsin out of the transfer portal. Coleman was the 67th ranked recruit nationally in the 2023 class and the top ranked recruit in the state of Nebraska. The wide receiver held offers from Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, and Oklahoma among many others.

Coleman signed with Nebraska as a member of the 2023 recruiting class and quickly found his way onto the field. The wide receiver had eight receptions, 139 yards, and a touchdown as a true freshman after playing in 11 games. Coleman saw his role on the team diminish in 2024 after playing in just one game for the team against Rutgers before taking a redshirt year.

The wide receiver transferred to Minnesota for the 2025 season in hopes of finding a greater role within the Golden Gophers’ offense. Unfortunately, Coleman was held to just five receptions for 83 yards this past season with Minnesota before ultimately entering the transfer portal again.

Coleman is a huge 6-foot-5, 200-pound receiver who offers both a great frame and plenty of experience on the field. Despite being limited to just a handful of career receptions, the receiver is a former top recruit who tore up the field as a high school prospect.

Coleman caught 17 passes as a junior and ten of them went for touchdowns as the recruit was also a full-time edge rusher for his team. The wide receiver was named to the 247 Sports ‘Freaks’ list in 2023 due to his intense physicality. Between his incredible speed, notable strength, and impressive jumping ability, Coleman is certainly not the average wide receiver.

The former Minnesota receiver will join fellow Wisconsin transfers Shamar Rigby (Oklahoma State) and Jaylon Domingeaux (SE Louisiana). Sophomore receiver Eugene Hilton Jr. also announced he would withdraw his name from the transfer portal and return for the 2026 season. The Badgers’ staff continues to add talent on offense to surround new quarterback and top transfer portal addition Colton Joseph.

The former top recruit Coleman will join Wisconsin with two years of eligibility remaining after utilizing a redshirt during the 2024 season.
