The Wisconsin Badgers football team were recently included in a 2024 three-star recruit’s top 12 schools. As Josiah Martin narrows his list, the receiver will search for what school he will commit to for his collegiate career. The Badgers will have quite a battle ahead of them against other tough programs to land the impressive Texas native.
Wisconsin Badgers Make Narrow School List For 2024 Recruit
Josiah Martin is a 2024 three-star receiver from Denton, Texas. Martin is ranked 85th overall in the state of Texas and the 89th overall receiver in the 2024 recruiting class. As a junior this year, Martin recorded 60 receptions, 878 yards, and 9 receiving touchdowns as he blazed through defenses. Coming in at six foot, 170 pounds, Martin is not a physically imposing receiver but knows how to get past defenders in spectacular fashion.

Following the completion of his season, Martin posted his junior highlight tape to Hudl for coaches to view. The first clip of Martin breaking away clocks his speed at 23.2 mph as he beat his man for a huge gain. His quick cut ability and stutter step are guaranteed to leave defenders behind him. Perhaps the most entertaining aspect of Martin’s game is his ability to make his routes and separation look effortless. Martin can fly past defenders and make difficult catches without appearing to expend much energy.

Martin announced a few days ago on Twitter that he would be releasing a list of schools in the next few days. Martin stuck to his word and dropped his first top schools list, including 12 colleges of serious interest. Penn State and Purdue are the other Big Ten schools that snuck onto the talented receiver’s list. TCU, Baylor, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are always threats to land top recruits. The Wisconsin Badgers will be in a battle to land Martin when he chooses to commit.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Recruiting: Josiah Martin
As with every recruit, the initial lists are made to depict where the recruit is interested at the moment. The list and schools can change very much in the future depending on who continues to recruit Martin extensively. The Wisconsin Badgers have been one of the longest standing offers for Martin and the team has gotten to know him longer than other programs.
While the Wisconsin Badgers may have the closest relationship with Martin, it is unclear which school has peaked his interest. Martin has an exceptional ability at getting open and creating that layer of separation. His ability to get open will certainly be intriguing for offensive coordinator Phil Longo, who enjoys letting the ball fly from time to time.

Martin did not spend much time in the slot in his highlights and instead lined up outside predominantly on the left side. Often, Martin works across the middle and can get past the safety over top. With the right schemes and play design the skills that Martin has can be used to the fullest amount, and that might just happen in Madison. The Wisconsin Badgers offered Martin a scholarship in December and have since made strides in their relationship with the recruit.
The Badgers currently have a rather full receiving room following the batch of transfers. However, Martin could offer a different type of speed the team could use in the future. Using Martin on the sideline and letting him make his way past the lone corner back is what he can do best as a receiver. The Wisconsin Badgers football staff will be in a tough recruiting battle to try and land the three-star 2024 receiver Josiah Martin.
