The Wisconsin Badgers are preparing for the start of the 2024-2025 college basketball season, but head coach Greg Gard never rests in trying to find players for the program for the future. A season ago, Wisconsin finished with a 22-14 record. They went to the BIG10 Championship Game before they lost to the Illinois Fighting Illini.
Wisconsin was seeded fifth in the NCAA Tournament a season ago before they flamed out against the James Madison Dukes. Because of it, a lot of players transferred and many fans were calling for head coach Greg Gard to be fired.

It didn’t happen and Gard is back with the Wisconsin Badgers for the 2024-2025 season and maybe beyond. Wisconsin hopes to return to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year.
The Wisconsin Badgers are Set to Host Tommy Ahneman

Ahneman is a center from West Fargo, North Dakota and he is going for an unofficial visit to Madison, Wisconsin on June 26. Tommy Ahneman told Dillon Graff of Athlon Sports about visiting with the program by saying:
“Wisconsin is a great academic school and basketball program that would allow me to play at the highest level of college basketball.”
The Wisconsin Badgers assistant basketball coach Joe Krabbenhoft is trying to recruit him to Wisconsin. Tommy Ahneman also added about him:
“It’s a building relationship. He’s given me great insight into Wisconsin and what they expect from their bigs.”
Tommy Ahneman is 6’10” and weighs 235 lbs. According to 247sports, some of the other schools that have offered him at the moment are the Old Dominion Monarchs, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Furman, Weber State, and North Dakota are some of the other college basketball programs that are also interested in him.
The Wisconsin Badgers are not the only BIG10 team that wants to recruit him. It will be interesting to see what happens when he visits Wisconsin at the end of June.

During his junior year at Sheyenne High School, he averaged 20.3 points per game, 13.3 rebounds per game, and 2.1 blocks per game and earned North Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year Honors. He could be a potential Steven Crowl replacement for the 2025-2026 college basketball season for the Wisconsin Badgers.
It remains to be seen where Class of 2025 graduate Tommy Ahneman decides to play college basketball. It would be one thing if he were to play near home for North Dakota. The Wisconsin Badgers can’t allow a very talented big man to land with another BIG10 basketball program.
