The Wisconsin Badgers will look to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive as they play Ohio State in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament. The Badgers desperately need a win or two going forward in order to help their chances of making the Big Dance. If they do not, they may be left out. Their March Madness eligibility is not the only question surrounding the team right now. The Badgers’ lone senior, Tyler Wahl, is currently undecided about his future.

Wisconsin Badgers Star Tyler Wahl Has One More Year of Eligibility

Michigan forward Terrance Williams II tries to block a jump shot from Wisconsin forward Tyler Wahl during the first half on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023, at Crisler Center.

Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tyler Wahl has one more season of eligibility that he can use if he wants to. According to Dillon Graff of Badgers Notes, Wahl is on record as saying, “My heart and soul is here. This has always been my dream school.”

Per Graff, head coach Greg Gard has this to say about the possibility of Wahl coming back next season: “We’ve had a little conversation with Tyler, but until that day comes, hopefully, that’s down the road, we’ll dive deeper into it. He’s in a good place. I just want to let him carry out these next two, plus the Big Ten Tournament, plus whatever happens after that.”

Wahl certainly has a good reason to return next season. After a roller coaster season in 2022-23, the 2023-24 Badgers team looks to be much improved. Undoubtedly, pieces will be added through the transfer portal and they have three exciting incoming freshmen. If Wahl wants to finish his Badgers career in a more celebrated manner, coming back next season would be a great decision.
