Wisconsin Badgers In Contact With Standout Wofford Transfer

The Wisconsin Badgers basketball staff has recently been in contact with a standout freshman who has entered the portal. Freshman guard Jackson Paveletzke has decided to leave Wofford after the team failed to make a postseason appearance. Paveletzke is one of the top underclassmen in the nation this season and Wisconsin has reached out to the transfer about joining the program in Madison.

Wisconsin Badgers Eager To Land Top Freshman Transfer

Jackson Paveletzke was originally recruited to Wofford without cracking any prospect rankings. The Kimberly, Wisconsin native received interest from the Badgers, Toledo, and Wofford before eventually signing with the Terriers. Paveletzke made an impact for the team right away, scoring 16, 18, and 15 points in his first three games.

I thought Jackson Paveletzke was considerably undervalued as a 2022 recruit. 13 games into his college career, he’s averaging 15.8 PPG & 4.1 APG for Wofford on 55.7% shooting and 50% from 3. In 33 games this season, Paveletzke averaged 15.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and shot 49.3% from the field. The freshman also shot 39.3% from three point range and 84.2% from free throw range. Paveletzke also won the SoCon Freshman Of The Year Award this year after leading his team to a 17-16 record and earning the sixth seed in the conference tournament.

Can Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Land Jackson Paveletzke?

The Wisconsin Badgers are currently on a long list of teams who have made contact with the freshman standout. Among the teams that have made initial contact with Paveletzke are Big Ten rivals Ohio State, Minnesota, Penn State, and Illinois. Other major programs that have contacted him include Gonzaga, USC, and UVA.

The Badgers are still in the midst of their NIT run following a win over Bradley. The focus currently has not been on recruiting, but Wisconsin will have to work hard to land the spectacular freshman. Paveletzke is a natural scorer and does not have difficulty creating open shots for himself. He is not one dimensional either, as Paveletzke has an excellent ability to distribute the ball to the open man as well.

Jackson Paveletzke announced his decision to enter the transfer portal less than 48 hours ago. Already, the standout has been flooded with coaches gauging interest and trying to figure out if Paveletzke will be a fit for the team. For the Wisconsin Badgers, the guard could provide another level of court vision and basketball IQ that the young team needs. Paveletzke may be a young player himself, but handles himself in a sophisticated manner and could potentially help develop the Badgers.
