The Wisconsin Badgers will be hosting a strong 2027 offensive tackle prospect in the middle of the transfer portal season who has been quickly rising.

2027 Perrysburg (OH) three-star offensive tackle Reed Gerken announced a growing list of upcoming collegiate visits. Gerken is the 437th ranked recruit nationally, the 38th offensive tackle, and the 15th ranked recruit in the state of Ohio. The recruit was busy this past season visiting programs like Tennessee, Ohio State, Michigan State, Cincinnati, and Penn State.

Gerken currently holds a growing list of offers that includes Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, NC State, North Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. Wisconsin and Indiana have both been involved with the recruit, but have not officially offered Gerken yet.

Allen Trieu of 247 Sports announced that Gerken booked four visits to end the month of January as the offensive tackle continues to evaluate his options. Gerken will visit the following programs in order:

    • Michigan State, January 23rd
    • Tennessee, January 24th
    • Indiana, January 25th
    • Wisconsin, January 31st

The offensive tackle has visited Michigan State and Tennessee in the past and will look to continue to develop those relationships. An important note is that the Spartans, Hoosiers, and Badgers are all programs who have not yet officially offered Gerken a scholarship. That will certainly change for the recruit moving forward as many programs have begun to focus on the 2027 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive tackle is a dynamic player who combines footwork, agility, and strength into one package on the field. Gerken does an excellent job at adjusting mid-play to protect the quarterback without risking costly penalties or mental errors. In addition to being able to recognize where the pressure will come from, Gerken is also an athletic lineman who can recover quickly on the field.

The Badgers currently have two 2027 class commitments from in-state products Korz Loken and Ethan McIntosh. Loken is a four-star tight end who ranks as the fourth player overall at the position and the top ranked recruit in the state of Wisconsin. McIntosh is a three-star offensive tackle who is the son of Wisconsin Athletic Director Chris McIntosh and an accomplished recruit from Verona (WI).
