The Wisconsin Badgers have been very high on a fast-rising 2027 offensive tackle from within the great state of Wisconsin.
Reece Mallinger, a 2027 offensive tackle from Sussex, Wisconsin, has been a star for the Hamilton Charger football team. Mallinger stands in at 6-feet-5-inches, 285-pounds with both agile feet and incredible strength for an offensive tackle. The Wisconsin Badgers have been one of the programs involved with Mallinger early on, but they are currently not alone.
When asked about the recruitment process, Mallinger stated, “There has been lots of interest and lots of communication with coaches.” Mallinger added that Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Indiana have been the three most active schools in terms of his recruitment thus far.
As far as the recruitment process goes, Mallinger is already looking for specifics in the pitches teams are delivering him. The talented offensive tackle stated, “I love programs who have a plan of attack like lifting or nutrition. The best staff members are the ones who I feel are the most welcoming and enthusiastic about football.”
When it comes down to the Wisconsin Badgers, however, the recruitment from the staff has been a bit different as an in-state school. Mallinger admitted that the distance was a factor he truly liked, and also they have been a program that has had the “most communication” since initiating the recruitment of Mallinger. The tackle also added that he believes he has a “genuine” connection with the staff and cannot wait to see where it goes in the future.
Mallinger recently knocked out two visits in one after attending the Nebraska-Wisconsin game this past weekend. The tackle thoroughly enjoyed his visit and enjoyed the opportunity to view each program up close and personal this season.
What Can Reece Mallinger Offer the Wisconsin Badgers, Other Programs?
While the Wisconsin Badgers might be in a solid position to land Reece Mallinger at the moment, there is still a long road ahead in his recruitment.
Mallinger is a special player on the field, and more programs are sure to become a member of the race for the offense tackle. The differences between Mallinger and other tackles really starts and ends with the mental aspect of playing the position. Mallinger can break down a defense with ease and his understanding of how opposing defenses work is incredible.
Along with the understanding of the position and football intelligence Mallinger possesses, the tackle also never gives up on the field. Call it “heart” or “drive” or “passion” but regardless the term, Mallinger certainly has the ability. Mallinger finishes plays and drives his way through blocks until the whistle is blown which is quite an admirable style of play.
Mallinger added to his excellent abilities by stating that he has also become “addicted” to the grind of practice and games. The offense tackle loves improving himself, his team, and his football knowledge whenever he possibly can. With the tools the athlete has, Mallinger is going to be a player team need to work with early before he opts to commit.
