The Wisconsin Badgers football team invited a handful of recruits to the facilities in Madison this past weekend for unofficial visits. One particular recruit, 2024 three-star safety Cam Richardson, enjoyed his time with the Badgers staff so much he could not say no to another visit. Before leaving campus, Richardson booked an official visit for June after speaking with coach Colin Hitschler.
Wisconsin Badgers Excite Cam Richardson For Another Madison Visit
Cam Richardson is a three-star safety in the 2024 recruiting class from Irvington, New Jersey. Richardson comes in at six foot two inches and roughly 190 pounds with great speed and field vision. As a defensive back, Richardson primarily stalks the middle of the field and works down as needed in the run game. The combination of vision and natural football instincts that Richardson possesses makes him a potential standout at the next level.

Richardson spent last season at Saint Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, but will play out his senior year at Irvington High School in his home town. In two years of play, Richardson has recorded 74 total tackles, four interceptions, and 13 pass defenses through 22 games played, according to MaxPreps. Saint Peter’s Prep made it into the second round of the New Jersey High School playoffs, but now Richardson will seek success back home before finding his collegiate home.
Currently, Richardson sits at the 53rd spot at safety in the 2024 football recruiting rankings, according to Rivals. Richardson also ranks as the 12th overall player in the state of New Jersey but has yet to hit the national rankings. With another successful season, Richardson could certainly propel himself into a better position in the rankings. Another season will also bring plenty more offers for a recruit who has already been offered by the following teams below.
- Akron
- Boston College
- Coastal Carolina
- Duke
- University of Kentucky
- Louisville
- University of Maryland
- University of Massachusetts
- Michigan State
- Penn State
- University of Pittsburgh
- Syracuse
- Wake Forest
- West Virginia University
- University of Wisconsin
Cam Richardson still has plenty of time to make his decision as well, but it seems like there is a clear favorite. During his unofficial visit to Madison this weekend, Richardson booked his official visit for June before stepping off the campus. Richardson noted that the Wisconsin Badgers staff was one of the best that he has spoken with thus far, which boasts well for the future chances of the Badgers landing the talented safety. He also had the opportunity to meet with Colin Hitschler, the Wisconsin Badgers co-defensive coordinator and positional coach. Hitschler has proved to be a safety guru with his ability to develop his players.

Wisconsin has had success landing recruits from the state of New Jersey the last couple of years. Corner back A’Khoury Lyde and defensive end Mike Jarvis are both players who have come from New Jersey to Madison. With his current interest and what seems like a great relationship with the staff, Richardson could become the next player to come from the New Jersey pipeline to Wisconsin. His talent as an overall defensive back could prove to be incredibly valuable for the Badgers in the future.
