The Wisconsin Badgers entering Saturday’s matchup against the Purdue Boilermakers was intriguing because they have yet to score 30 points in one game this season. Wisconsin dominated Purdue and won by a final score of 52-6. With the win, the Badgers improved to 3-2 on the season and the Boilermakers dropped to 1-4.
It was a good thing that Wisconsin won this game over Purdue easily because the Badgers are now not the worst team in the BIG10 Conference. There were some questions about them entering this matchup against Purdue.
Purdue Boilermakers Head Coach Ryan Walters Claims They Are a Bad Football Team After the Loss Against the Wisconsin Badgers
Last Sunday, Purdue fired offensive coordinator Graham Harrell. It didn’t change much for Purdue as they only scored six points in the game and there are much bigger issues for the Boilermakers than just the offense. After the game, boilermakers head coach Ryan Walters spoke to Dustin Schutte of Sports Illustrated. Walters said about his football team at this point:
“The most disappointing thing is, if I’m being completely honest, we’re a bad football team right now. We’re not disciplined when it gets tight, we play with poor technique when it’s our turn to make a play, we get sloppy when we have to do things to make up ground. So, yeah, we’ve got a lot to think about on Sunday.”
In this game, the Purdue Boilermakers offense only had 216 yards of total offense, and the Wisconsin Badgers had 589 yards of total offense. Wisconsin wished they could be this productive on offense every single week and hopefully, they can build on this while Purdue can search for answers.
Braedyn Locke Shows Some Signs Of Life In the Win Over Purdue
Despite the Bpilemakers claiming they are a bad football team right now, how about giving some credit to quarterback Braedyn Locke? He started at quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers with the injury to Tyler Van Dyke for the remainder of the season.
Locke completed 20-of-31 passes for 359 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. There were some great moments from him in this game and there were also some bad decisions as well from him in this game, but he will learn from it. As for Walters, if the Boilermakers can’t turn it around in a hurry, they will probably make a coaching change at the end of the season.
