Wisconsin Badgers Volleyball recently made a massive announcement impacting the start of the 2025 season. Over labor day weekend, UW-Madison will host a four-team invite and they will be bringing in four of the nations best teams for what promises to be one of the most exciting early-season showcases in college volleyball.
Which teams are participating in the Opening Spike Classic
Joining the Badgers as teams participating in the Opening Spike Classic will be the Kansas Jayhawks, Texas Longhorns, and Creighton Blue Jays. This invite will begin on Friday, August 29 and conclude on Sunday, August 31. No matches will take place on Saturday, August 30, but Wisconsin’s football team will have a home game on Thursday, August 28.
The match ups and game times are listed below. All matches will be played in the Kohl Center and aired on the Big Ten Network.
Friday, August 29
- Kansas versus Wisconsin at 6:00 p.m. CT., Texas vs Creighton at 8:30 p.m. CT.
Sunday, August 31
- Texas versus Wisconsin at 1:00 p.m. CT., Kansas versus Creighton at 3:30 p.m. CT.
Saige Dammrow will take on her former Wisconsin Badgers’ teammates
After last season concluded, defensive specialist/libero Saige Dammrow entered the transfer portal and chose to join the Creighton Bluejays. She will now be tasked with facing her former teammates early on in the season in what should be an emotional return. Dammrow filled in nicely during spurts of the 2024 season when Lola Schumacher was injured.
With powerhouse programs set to collide in Madison, the stage is set for an unforgettable start to the 2025 season. For the Badgers, it will be an opportunity to test their mostly turned over roster against the nation’s elite.
