The Wisconsin Badgers football staff had an amazing meeting with a certain 2025 athlete that resulted in a scholarship offer. CJ Nickson has proven to be one of the most interesting athletes in the nation given his size and strength. After a quick meeting with the Badgers staff, coach Nate Letton offered Nickson a scholarship to play for the Badgers.
Wisconsin Badgers Offer 2025 Tight End, Edge CJ Nickson
Coming in at six foot five inches, 215 pounds, CJ Nickson is a physical threat who can potentially play multiple positions at the collegiate level with his explosive speed and great field vision. Currently, Nickson has experience as a tight end and an edge rusher through two years of varsity play at Weatherford High School in Oklahoma. The sophomore is also an accomplished basketball player for his high school as well.

In his first year of play in 2021 as a freshman, Nickson recorded 354 yards and five touchdowns on 24 receptions. On defense, Nickson recorded 13 tackles and one fumble recovery in limited playing time. The following season, Nickson exploded on both sides of the ball to solidify himself as a major 2025 recruit. The sophomore recorded 604 yards and eight touchdowns on 36 receptions while adding rather impressive defensive statistics. The edge rusher recorded 46 tackles, three sacks, five forced fumbles, and two interceptions, including one that was returned for a touchdown.
Perhaps the most shocking part about Nickson is that he still has two more years to go. The sophomore will have plenty of time to add muscle and size onto his frame as he develops into an elite caliber player. The 2025 recruiting class is still up in the air with the majority of recruits not yet ranked. Currently, Nickson is not ranked in the 247 Sports system, however he does have six recorded scholarship offers. The teams that have already shown interest in Nickson thus far are listed below:
- Baylor Bears
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish
- Oklahoma Sooners
- Oklahoma State Cowboys
- Texas Tech Red Raiders
- Tulsa Golden Hurricane (Not Offered)
- Wisconsin Badgers
The only team so far that has contacted Nickson without offering a scholarship has been Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane has shown interest in Nickson, but still has not pulled the trigger on a scholarship offer.
Currently, Nickson ranks as the 10th overall outside linebacker and the fifth best player in the state according to Rivals. The four-star athlete ranks as the 184th player nationally in the 2025 recruiting class as he begins to fully open his recruitment. Nickson already has an impressive lineup of scholarship offers and yet it is only the tip of the iceberg for the sophomore. The talented athlete is rather new compared to other 2025 football recruits as many teams are just learning about Nickson.
