Following the loss, the Wisconsin Badgers fans had to watch as the Nebraska Cornhuskers fans stormed the field in Lincoln.
The Badgers lost 44-25 against the Cornhuskers, who similarly needed just one more win to become a bowl eligible team. Unfortunately, Nebraska was able to secure a bowl game and the Wisconsin Badgers musts what it out through the final game of the year. The Minnesota Golden Gophers are now the team that stands in the way of making a bowl game, but there is also much more that stands in the way.
The program made the decision to move on from offensive coordinator Phil Longo after the air-raid offense never quite made it off the ground. Tight ends coach Nate Letton was the play-caller for the Wisconsin Badgers against Nebraska, though it did not seem to make much of a difference for the team. The Wisconsin Badgers scored 25-points but struggled along the way to do so as it was not a fluid performance.

Wisconsin 25Ding-dong, the drought is dead, huh? #Huskers now 6-5 and end 4-game losing streak, 10-game skid to the Badgers and the nation’s third-longest bowl game drought (7 seasons).

For the Badgers, the loss was solidified by an interception from Braedyn Locke, who had admittedly not made many mistakes up until that point. The loss was finalized with the Nebraska Cornhuskers fans rushing the field as the Wisconsin team left the field. While some fans may believe this was due to the win over Wisconsin, it was likely due to the team securing bowl eligibility rather than excitement over beating the Badgers.
The fans storming the field in front of the Wisconsin football team seemed oddly fitting as the Badgers are searching for the same excitement.
What is Next For the Wisconsin Badgers Football Team Following a Tough Loss?
With just one game left on the schedule and a two-decade long streak on the line, the Wisconsin Badgers have plenty to prove against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Minnesota has been quite the interesting team this season as they have been in similar situations as Wisconsin. However, one key thing that separates the two teams is that Minnesota already has six wins this season while Wisconsin does not. That certainly does not mean Minnesota will take a foot off the gas against the Badgers, and it also means Wisconsin has a serious legacy to uphold in one final game.
No team enjoys when potentially extending the season comes down to one game, but the Wisconsin Badgers are unfortunately in that position. In order to secure a win over Minnesota, Wisconsin is going to have to come into the game mentally prepared.
The Badgers made two costly unnecessary penalties at the end of the loss to Nebraska that really highlighted the overall issues with the team this season. Wisconsin is playing undisciplined football and the only way to truly return to that is by flipping the script. Whether Wisconsin manages to do that through changes in play-calling or lighting a fire underneath players, it has to be done.
