The Wisconsin Badgers’ staff added a third commitment to the growing 2027 recruiting class after again going back to the in-state well.
Catholic Memorial safety and unranked 2027 recruit Dustin Roach announced his commitment to the Badgers yesterday afternoon. Roach is a standout defender from Waukesha who stands at 6-foot-3 and roughly 180 pounds. Eastern Michigan had also been a program that was in contact with the safety, but Roach ultimately opted to stay close to home.
Roach joins fellow in-state recruits Korz Loken and Ethan McIntosh as the current 2027 commitments for Wisconsin. Loken is a four-star tight end and has largely been considered to be one of the top tight ends in the nation since his entrance into the rankings. McIntosh is a three-star offensive tackle who is the son of Badgers’ Athletic Director Chris McIntosh who has made a name for himself as an agile blocker.
McIntosh committed to Wisconsin in November and his announcement kicked off the 2027 recruiting cycle for the Badgers. The offensive tackle was the first recruit to announce his commitment.
Loken previously revealed he would announce his collegiate decision during the Navy All-American Bowl and the Badgers were known to be in play. The tight end committed to Wisconsin and chose to stay home as he felt playing for the Badgers was a full-circle opportunity he could not pass on.
Wisconsin Badgers Land Third 2027 Commitment in Catholic Memorial Safety Dustin Roach

Roach is the latest pickup for Wisconsin in the 2027 class and the credit goes to safeties coach Jack Cooper, who was the driving force behind the Badgers’ recruiting efforts. The safety noted that the relationship between himself and Cooper has continued to grow which played a big part in his ultimate decision to commit to the program.
On the field, the defender possesses a lengthy frame that is ideal for the prototypical safety in the Wisconsin defense. Roach has both great size and length alongside his excellent field vision which allows the safety to create plays many players do not. The safety is a successful tackler in the open field and someone who does not shy away from contact.
In addition to being an instinctual and physical player, Roach is a talented defender in coverage who rarely allows himself to be burnt by opposing receivers. Roach is a capable defender through the air who can give opposing quarterbacks a hard time from a distance with his play.
The safety noted that Wisconsin safeties Matthew Jung and Austin Brown were two players he admired from the 2025 team.
For the Badgers, Roach is a great early pickup for the program in the 2027 class as Wisconsin continues to load-up on in-state talent. Coach Luke Fickell has been criticized in the past by fans for landing a lack of top talent from within the state. Just months into the Badgers’ staff putting forth serious effort into the 2027 class and Fickell already has three notable commitments from across the state.
