Four of the starting five by Wisconsin Badgers played big in their win against USC Trojans. John Tonje did not score any point but good thing for them, Kamari McGee stepped up.
Starting guard Max Klesmit is all praises for his reliever.
“The growth that this dude has shown makes me happy, man. It’s what you dream as as a teammate and as a friend,” he said post game as quoted by Michael McCleary of the Badger Extra.
The senior guard scored 10 points for coach Greg Gard’s squad on an efficient 3 out of five shooting, all of them from the three point line. He also had four assists.
It is the third time in the last five games that McGee scored in double digits.
Klesmit, who recently missed games, was himself reliable, too, scoring 18 points in 27 minutes.
Kamari McGee was everywhere in the game
Badgers fans raved about McGee. Some even thought he is a star in the making.
Although the end score says it is a blowout, USC actually threatened in the middle part in the second half when they closed the gap to three points, 52-55, with around 10 minutes remaining.
The sense of urgency was there for coach Greg Gard’s men led John Blackwell who topscored with 28 points.
McGree provided a sense of steadiness for the team with his timely shots, assists, and sticky defense.
He made a lay-up with 7:23 remaining to bring the lead back to double digits at 10 and then followed it up with a three pointer in the next possession.
He also made the assist to Klesmit to stretch the lead to 16 with 4:04 remaining.
From there, the Trojans were put away.
Next up for the Badgers are UCLA.
