The Wisconsin Badgers‘ biggest game of the college football season will be against the #4 Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. Kickoff for this contest will be at 11 a.m. CT on FOX. Alabama’s head coach Kalen DeBoer and Wisconsin’s head coach Luke Fickell understand the importance of this non-conference game early on in the college football season.
The Crimson Tide is considered one of the college football favorites to win the title this season. The Badgers are looking to pull off an upset this weekend at home.
Alabama Crimson Tide Head Coach Kalen DeBoer Praises Quarterback Jalen Milroe Ahead Of This Weekend’s Matchup Against the Wisconsin Badgers
There have been outside questions about Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe. There have been some questions about his passing abilities, but he is very effective in the running game. Kalen DeBoer said on the Until Saturday podcast about the quarterback:
“He’s got some tools that are really uncommon. He had great deep-ball skills a year ago that showed up, and he’s shown that already this year some. Obviously, what sticks out to a lot of people is his ability to run too. Meshing those things together is the trick, right? It’s [about] where’s that balance because we have other great skill players that we want to make sure get their opportunities to help us win football games.”
Milroe in his first two games has completed 65.7% of his passes for 394 yards and five touchdowns. He has also rushed for 81 yards on 22 carries and four touchdowns, along with averaging 3.7 yards per carry this season. Jalen Milroe only had two rushing yards last week against the USF Bulls, but had 79 in the first week of the season.
Wisconsin Badgers Need To Contain Him To Have a Chance
The Badgers need to contain him to have a chance to pull off the upset. It could be interesting early on for Wisconsin against Alabama, but the Crimson Tide may just have better athletes on the field than the Badgers do.
Jalen Milroe and Tyler Van Dyke will be an interesting quarterback matchup throughout the day. Van Dyke will need to take some shots down the field for the Wisconsin Badgers. However, the biggest difference will be that Jalen Milroe will have playmaker freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams to rely on in a big spot.
