Wisconsin Badgers former football player running back Jonathan Taylor was trending on Monday night. He has yet to play a down this season for the Indianapolis Colts and is still on the PUP list for two more weeks. Nick Chubb, the Cleveland Browns running back, is out for the season with a knee injury suffered on Monday night football in a 26-22 loss on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Chubb had to be carted off the field, and the injury was so gruesome that the ESPN/ABC broadcast didn’t want to show it on the replay. Nick Chubb finished the game with 64 yards rushing on 10 carries. When Chubb departed from the game, Jerome Ford took over in the backfield and had 106 yards rushing for 16 carries. The other running back in the backfield for Cleveland on Monday night was Pierre Strong, who also had a 1-yard rushing touchdown in the football game.
Should the Cleveland Browns stick with that tandem with Nick Chubb sidelined or make a move for Wisconsin Badgers Jonathan Taylor?
The Cleveland Browns Should Try and Make a Move For Wisconsin Badgers Jonathan Taylor
Cleveland does not have a first-round pick this season to give the Indianapolis Colts this season because of the Deshaun Watson trade, but they do have a second-round pick to give away for the 2024 NFL Draft, and they do have a 2025 first-round draft pick.
Indianapolis is in rebuild mode, and not getting a 2024 first-round pick back wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Giving up a second-rounder this season and a first-rounder next season would be fine. The Colts would probably want another player back in return, but the most important thing for Indianapolis would be draft capital.
Jonathan Taylor would be the starting running back for the Cleveland Browns instantly. The Browns are used to having a workhorse in the backfield, and when on the field, Taylor is one of the best backs in the league. Cleveland is a run-first football team, and that would be no problem. However, the only problem could be whether would they be willing to give the former Wisconsin Badgers football player a long-term contract.
Another thing to consider is that is Nick Chubb’s career over. It remains to be seen, but the Cleveland Browns are in win-now mode and want to get back to the playoffs this season. It would be insane for them not to give the Indianapolis Colts a call.
They could also very well bring back Kareem Hunt, who is currently a free agent, but Jonathan Taylor is the play here for the Cleveland Browns if they want to make the playoffs with Deshaun Watson, Kevin Stefanski, and company.
