The 2023 NFL Draft concluded Saturday evening with several Wisconsin Badgers finding new work with teams around the league. Not long after the draft ended, teams were busy signing undrafted free agents and inviting players to try out during rookie minicamps that will be held over the next couple of weeks. A former Badgers quarterback is getting another chance this offseason to make an NFL roster.

Coan was a member of Wisconsin’s football team from 2017-2020. He suffered an injury during fall camp in 2020 with the Badgers, and Graham Mertz won the starting spot. Coan transferred to Notre Dame for the 2021 season. Following his college career, Coan was signed by the Indianapolis Colts in 2022. The Colts cut him in late August, and Coan actually had a workout with the Seahawks last October. Coan will have a better chance to showcase his skils in the rookie minicamp.
Coan signed with the XFL team, the San Antonio Brahmas, this season. Coan has thrown for 1,471 yards with six touchdowns and six interceptions with the Brahmas. Now Coan will get another shot in the NFL this offseason starting next month.
