The Wisconsin Badgers recently impressed a talented 2028 class recruit on a visit despite a loss during the game.
Hendrix Dawson, a 2028 athlete who plays tight end and middle linebacker, was in attendance for the Wisconsin Badgers lost to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. While the Wisconsin Badgers may have lost, that does not mean that Dawson had a bad experience, and in fact, the recruit is still heavily considering the Badgers moving forward.
As a Wisconsin native starring for Wisconsin Dells High School, Dawson has quickly become a highly touted recruit that many programs are working to develop a relationship with. Wisconsin and Nebraska have been two programs in particular who are showing interest in the recruit this early into his football career.
During his first season of high school football, Dawson recorded 54 total tackles, with 24 of the tackles being solo while adding for for a loss. The linebacker also recorded two fumble recoveries and two pass deflections, with his massive 6-foot-4-inch frame dominating the field against various opponents. Dawson showcased his extreme strength this season often throwing around the smaller ballcarriers that would run towards the linebacker.
The linebacker currently weighs 243-pounds with still plenty of time moving forward to both grow and develop physically, which means that Dawson could become a serious threat on the field in the future.
When asked about the recent Wisconsin Badgers visit, Dawson said, “I was very excited to be there and experience that so early in my high school football career.” Dawson added that while the game was extremely cold and also the result was not exactly what he wanted, he still really enjoyed the experience overall in Madison. Overall, the linebacker felt it was a “really cool experience” that he would “definitely” like to experience again.
Could the Wisconsin Badgers Eventually Land a Commitment From Hendrix Dawson?
With Dawson being an extreme in-state talent, the Wisconsin Badgers are going to try to make a great impression while developing a relationship.
Dawson is a very young recruit and someone looking to experience all of the recruiting process, which means a commitment is likely years away from occurring. However, the Wisconsin staff may have insight into what the recruit is truly looking for when viewing different programs moving forward.
When asked about his recent Wisconsin visit, Dawson stated, “When I watch football, I usually focus on the players who play the same position as me, but at a college game day visit, I really try to soak up the entire experience and environment.” The athlete added, “When I decide where I will play at the collegiate level, I want to chose a place that feels good on game day and has the support of the community and the students. I really felt that while at Camp Randall.”
The Wisconsin Badgers have likely secured another future visit with Dawson, as the recruit stated “I would definitely take another visit at Wisconsin. It would be an honor to play for one of the most successful football programs in the country. The energy on game day was exciting and it would be great to experience that as a player.”
The potential future between the Wisconsin Badgers and the talented athlete is in the hands of the staff moving forward
