The Wisconsin Badgers are looking to keep it going this Saturday, when they face off against the Indiana Hoosiers on the road.
Notwithstanding a recent stumble in a 73-71 loss to the USC Trojans, the Badgers have been among the best teams in the nation — or at least in the Big Ten — of late. Since that setback, Greg Gard’s squad has defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers in dramatic fashion, 67-63, and the Ohio State Buckeyes, 92-82.
Wisconsin basketball’s Gard speaks up on Quadrant 1 chances
There are still plenty of games left to play for the Badgers before Selection Sunday comes around, and until then, all Wisconsin basketball can do is try to win every game. Wisconsin can certainly boost its chance to get the nod of the selection committee and a higher seed in the NCAA Tournament by winning more games, especially the few ones coming up on its schedule.
After the date with Indiana in Bloomington, Wisconsin will lock horns with current No. 5 Illinois Fighting Illini on the road and current No. 10 Michigan State Spartans at home on Feb. 10 and Feb. 13, respectively. Those are tasty Quadrant 1 games, but Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard does not value it as a be-all and end-all.
Via Audrey Marr of WMTV 15 News on X, formerly Twitter:
Wisconsin has several Quad-1 opportunities still ahead of them. However, head coach Greg Gard doesn’t view it as such. So much so, he spoke for nearly two minutes about it.
“That is not a selection tool, it’s a sorting tool … The most important analytic? Win.”
At the end of the day, the result is either a win or a loss in the eyes of Gard, who has been Wisconsin’s head coach since 2015.
The Badgers enter the Indiana game with just two Quadrant 1 wins.
