The Wisconsin Badgers football staff recently offered an exciting 2024 four-star defensive lineman from Fairfield, California. Jericho Johnson is one of the top ranked defensive linemen in the 2024 recruiting class. Johnson is also one of the best recruits in the state of California and has been on the Badgers radar for quite a while.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Offers 2024 Four-Star Jericho Johnson
Johnson comes in at six foot four, 300 pounds as he dominates the middle of the defensive line. Johnson is a capable, big body lineman that stuffs the run whenever it comes his way. According to MaxPreps, Johnson recorded 36 solo tackles in eight games, along with 15 tackles for loss. Johnson also recorded nine sacks and two fumble recoveries during his dominant season for Armijo High School.

Johnson has an incredible ability to get into the backfield on nearly every play. His strength allows his to push his opponents out of the way with extreme ease. Perhaps the most valuable aspect of his game is his vision for the incoming blocks and running lanes. Johnson is exceptional at picking up where the play is going to happen and making sure he gets there in time. Running backs are rarely able to get away from the big bodied lineman as he dominated during his 2022 football season.
For being a 300 pound lineman, Johnson is very light on his feet with the agility to move side to side to cover each gap. Johnson also has the ability to play on the offensive side of the ball at tackle as well, however his true potential is on the defensive side of the ball. Between his size and field vision, his skill set is better utilized on defense where Johnson can attack runners and pressure the quarterback.
As one of the top players in the state of California, Jericho Johnson will be a very hot commodity in the near future as the 2024 class begins to round out. Johnson currently holds 18 offers with the biggest being from schools such as Alabama, Arkansas, USC, Michigan, and Auburn to name a few. Johnson may have a large amount of offers, but many of the teams offering him may not have space to play the talented lineman.
Johnson has been recruited hard by the Wisconsin Badgers after receiving his scholarship from coach Greg Scruggs. Lately, Johnson seems to be interested in staying home on the west coast based on his reactions to those offers. Perhaps Johnson has a soft spot in his heart for Madison, but it appears on the surface that it will take some convincing to land the talented 2024 recruit.
The Wisconsin Badgers football staff could certainly use more help on the defensive side of the ball in their 2024 recruiting class. Currently, Jericho Johnson ranks as the 105th player nationally and the 13th overall player in the state of California. According to 247 Sports, Johnson is currently the 14th defensive lineman in the 2024 recruiting class and also holds the second-highest ranking among defensive linemen with offers from Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Badgers football staff also offered Ernest Willor Jr a scholarship early in the year. Willor Jr currently ranks as the eighth defensive lineman in the 2024 class.
