After a week in the Florida sun, we are back with a late May update on Wisconsin Badger Football recruiting! The trip’s timing worked out well, as the crazy run of offers slowed down a bit last week. With that said, Wisconsin Badgers Football has made a couple of cut-down lists along with a transfer commitment.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Commitment
Atticus Bertrams (P)
Wisconsin Badgers Football Head Coach Luke Fickell had some concerns about special teams heading down the home stretch of spring practices. With the final practice being focused on that position group, it was obvious the team needed an upgrade at Punter. After deciding not to enroll at USC, the school he initially committed to in 2022, Atticus Bertrams hopes to be that special teams difference-maker for the Badgers. The young Australian has spent time with Prokick Australia, which has developed a lot of collegiate talent.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Cut-Down Lists
Liam Andrews (IOL)
Wisconsin Badgers Football has made the top eight for Massachusetts native Liam Andrews. The 6 foot-5, 270-pound interior offensive lineman also included Penn State, LSU, Ohio State, Miami, Florida, South Carolina, and Oklahoma in his top eight. The 4-star junior would be a big addition to the class of 2024 for the Badgers, and beating out that list of schools would be a statement.
Ronan O’Connell (OL)
Wisconsin Badgers Football made the top three for 4-star offensive lineman Ronan O’Connell. The Tennessee native also has Tennessee and Clemson on that list. The junior would be a big addition to the class of 2024 as Wisconsin needs offensive line commits.
Koy Beasley (DB)
Wisconsin made the top four for 3-star defensive back Koy Beasley. The Ohio native also included Pitt, Rutgers, and Purdue as Wisconsin Badgers Football continues to try and add playmakers to the back end of their secondary.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Offers
Remington Moss (DB)
After being offered by the old staff, Virginia native Remington Moss was re-offered last week. The 3-star defensive back stands at 6 foot-2 and weighs in at around 180 pounds. Moss has the frame Wisconsin continues to target, long and projectable. The soon-to-be junior looks good on film with good ball skills and versatility. He’s listed as a safety but shows the ability to cover as well. He relies more on physicality than speed, which makes me think he’ll end up as a safety at the next level.
Francis Brewu (DT)
Wisconsin Badgers Football is hoping to flip Ohio native Francis Brewu. The 6 foot-2, 270-pound defensive tackle is currently committed to Pitt, yet Wisconsin still felt like they have a chance. As a junior, Brewu tallied 12.5 sacks and 25 tackles for loss which makes it easy to understand why the Badgers are throwing their hat in the ring. The tape is just more evidence as the defensive standout shows great power, speed, and short-area quickness. The burst is there as well, along with showing a variety of moves and great hand work.
Lloyd Irvin III (CB)
Much like Remington Moss, Lloyd Irvin III was re-offered by the new staff. The Maryland native isn’t ranked by rivals but at 6 foot-3, he has the frame Wisconsin has been focusing on. The lack of rank is surprising as Irvin looks good on film. The soon-to-be senior read and reacts quickly, doesn’t shy away from contact, and has the smooth hip turn you need to play corner at the next level.
Obinna Onwuka (DE)
The push in Maryland continues with Obinna Onwuka. The 4-star pass rusher already has 21 offers and has locked in an official visit to Wisconsin in early June. The soon-to-be senior has a great frame at 6 foot-4, 235 pounds, and continues to add good weight. The tape on Onwuka is fun to watch, as the potential is obvious. He may be slightly raw in terms of pass-rushing moves, but the physical traits are there, and he holds up extremely well against the run. Madison would be the perfect place for him to develop as a pass rusher.
DeZephen Walker (RB)
DeZephen Walker is a freshman running back out of Missouri. With 11 offers already to his name, the 6 foot, 190-pound speedster is a name to keep an eye on. Walker is fun to watch on film as he uses a combination of speed, vision, and burst to be a threat to score anytime the ball is in his hands.
Isaiah Mozee (WR)
Isaiah Mozee is the third player on this list to be re-offered by the new staff. The Missouri native is a highly sought-after target who has 33 offers before starting his junior season. Wisconsin Badgers Football may have lost important time with the 6 foot-1, 180-pound playmaker due to the coaching change, but as we’ve seen, receivers are a huge fans of the Phil Longo offense. The tape on the 4-star prospect is impressive, as he looks much older than he is. Mozee has good speed, great hands, high points the ball well, and he does a great job of selling his routes.
Matty Augustine (OL)
Matty Augustine is a 3-star offensive line recruit out of Connecticut. The soon-to-be junior checks in at 6 foot-7 and 275 pounds. With 11 offers so far, Wisconsin has gotten in relatively early with the multi-sport athlete. Augustine is impressive on tape as he uses his hands well to gain leverage and has the power to usher defenders downfield. Even while being slightly undersized, the rising prospect showed a lot of strength and will likely become even more dominant as he matures physically.
Wyatt Gilmore (DE)
Wyatt Gilmore is a 6 foot-4, 250-pound defensive end out of Minnesota. Unfortunately, since being offered, Gilmore announced his top five schools, and Wisconsin wasn’t included.
Carl Jenkins Jr (WR/ATH)
Carl Jenkins Jr is a 6 foot-3, 180-pound athlete out of Florida. The soon-to-be junior is still waiting for a ranking according to rivals, but after watching his highlights, those stars should be coming soon. Jenkins has added good weight to his long frame, which helps complement his good speed and hands. He has a very good release when pressed and gets in and out of his breaks well in the open field. This feels like a great player to get in on early.
Isaiah West (RB)
Isaiah West is a 6 foot, 210-pound running back out of New Jersey. Wisconsin Badgers Football is looking for its next star back and has set its eyes on West. The class of 2025 back already has a college-ready frame and is rising quickly up the ranks. There isn’t a ton of film on him, but what there is shows a plant and go back with solid speed, good blocking ability, and soft hands. Wisconsin has gotten in relatively early and should be in a solid position moving forward.
Jahmir Joseph (ATH)
Jahmir Joseph is a 6 foot-1, 175-pound athlete out of New Jersey. The 4-star class of 2025 playmaker already has an impressive list of offers, and it’s easy to see why on tape. Joseph looks like a cornerback at the next level, as he plays with great technique and speed. The multi-sport star does a great job of playing through the receiver’s hands and reading routes as well.
