The Wisconsin Badgers football staff has kept a close eye on a certain 2024 three-star recruit following his recent visit. Now, the team is preparing for his official visit on June 9th after a conversation with coach Luke Fickell.
Cam Richardson of Irvington, New Jersey, is a fantastic three-star safety in the 2024 recruiting class. Richardson is currently ranked as the 12th player overall in the state and the 53rd recruit at his position. The exceptional safety has 15 scholarship offers, with West Virginia, Michigan State, and Penn State leading in his recruitment. However, the defensive back has yet to step foot on any campus besides Madison during his recruiting process.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Eyeing Cam Richardson Ahead Of Official Visit
The 6-foot-2-inch, 185 pound safety from New Jersey is a versatile weapon on the defensive side of the ball. Richardson has an incredible ability to cover receivers, tight ends, and running backs in the open field. Richardson can also play down in the box in run-support situations when needed, which is where his size and strength to take down the ball carrier. Perhaps his best tool on the gridiron is his field vision as Richardson seemingly knows plays before they occur.
Richardson also has a great boost of speed, which he puts on display often when chasing down receivers from across the field. The talented defensive back had a great Junior season for St. Peter’s Prep High School, but plans on finishing his schooling at Irvington High School.
In two years at St. Peter’s Prep High School, Richardson recorded 74 total tackles, four interceptions, and 13 pass defenses. Richardson roamed the middle of the field and dominated last season. Richardson had one of the best seasons among the 2024 Wisconsin Badgers football recruiting targets. His competitive play was enough to get the attention of several schools, who are seriously interested in landing the talented recruit.
Can Wisconsin Land Cam Richardson Following Future Official Visit?
Thus far in the recruiting process, the Wisconsin Badgers football staff has been the most active recruiter of Richardson. While other programs like West Virginia and Michigan State have also been active, Richardson has only visited Madison so far. The talented defensive back also has only made plans for one future visit as well, which is his official visit in June. Richardson booked his official visit while he was still in Madison, Wisconsin meeting with the coaching staff.

Wisconsin seems primed to land Richardson at this time given his interest in the program and connection to coach Colin Hitschler, as well. Richardson has been recruited by Hitschler for quite some time and the two have developed a great relationship in that time. Hitschler is also the coach that extended the Wisconsin Badgers football scholarship offer to Richardson earlier this year. The defensive back also had the opportunity to meet with Badgers head coach Luke Fickell during his visit in late March.
As always with recruiting, no commitments are a sure thing and recruiting truly is a process. Richardson has expressed plenty of interest in the Badgers, but the staff is still working diligently to land the exceptional defensive back in the near future. Richardson would be a huge boost to the Badgers recruiting class as well, if he eventually lands with the team.
