Wisconsin Badgers football is ending the year with so much uncertainty as players leave them one by one. The latest to put his name on the football transfer portal is defensive lineman Curtis Neal.
The Badgers are on a five-game losing streak and they’re losing the players one by one mainly because of that.
“After much thought and reflection, I’ve decided I’ll be entering my name in the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining,” Neal wrote on X.
“This has not been an easy decision, as my time here at Wisconsin has been nothing short of incredible. Thank you Badger Nation!”
Neal, who committed himself to the Badgers program in 2021, has been playing well for them this season, recording 30 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack.
Other Badgers who joined transfer portal
Neal’s announcement comes at the heel of their November 30 loss to Minnesota.
He joins six other players who announced decision to enter the transfer portal. Other names set to leave the weary Wisconsin Badgers are wide receiver Cameron Miller, quarterback Cole LaCrue, outside linebacker Leon Lowery, centerbacks Amare Snowden and Jonas Duclona, and defensive back Justin Taylor.
Many attribute the departure of these players to their recent losses but reports have it that players were not sold on the idea of firing offensive coordinator Phil Longo.
Miller is the one allegedly affected by Longo.
The three-star Miller wrote on X:
I would like to thank Coach Fickell, Coach Guiton, and Coach Longo for believing me and giving me the opportunity to play at the next level. After talking with my family I’ve decided to recommit from the University of Wisconsin.
The three-star recruit has been a sought-after wide receiver in the market, with Kentucky putting him under their radar.
Other pieces of domino are expected to fall in the coming days for University of Wisconsin.
