The Wisconsin Badgers’ tear in the recruiting game keeps on rolling. Today the Badgers landed their 14th off-season commitment via transfer, and it was a big one.
Wisconsin Badgers Land Verbal Commitment From Grand Valley State CB Transfer Nyzier Fourqurean
According to 247 Sports:
Grand Valley State transfer cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean verbally committed to Vanderbilt on May 7. Nine days later, Wisconsin flipped the Division 2 All-American cornerback.
Fourqurean is a native of Mentor, Ohio, who signed with GVSU in the 2020 class. Listed at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, the big boundary cornerback posted 14 pass break-ups and four interceptions last season. Upon entering the transfer portal in late April, Fourqurean racked up offers from much of the Mid-American Conference as well as Tulane, Georgia Southern, James Madison, and Charlotte.
Fourqurean, who played two seasons under UW outside linebackers coach Matt Mitchell, formerly the head coach at GVSU, is the 14th transfer brought in by head coach Luke Fickell in the off-season. He’s also the second one that UW has flipped, joining Temple transfer Darian Varner, who originally signed with Virginia Tech.
With two years of legibility remaining, Fourqurean will solidify a cornerback room that’s seen three transfers during and after spring practice. The Badgers have been rolling with Boston College transfer and senior Jason Maitre, senior Alexander Smith, and sophomore Ricardo Hallman with their first-team defense. However, the second team appeared to be led by true freshmen Jonas Duclona and Jace Arnold, who both enrolled early.
Fourqurean, who will enroll in June, was an instant impact true freshmen at GVSU in 2021. He appeared in 11 games, tallying 13 tackles and a pass breakup. 247sports rates the addition as an 87 overall for the Badgers.
