The Wisconsin Badgers had its BIG10 regular season finale on Sunday afternoon on the road against the #3 Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue took down Wisconsin 78-70 and the Boilermakers swept the season series from the Badgers.
Only three players in this game scored in double figures for the Badgers. Justin Blackwell led the way for Wisconsin with 18 points and he also grabbed four rebounds. AJ Storr and Tyler Wahl each scored 17 points. Wahl also grabbed 10 rebounds in this contest against Purdue.
Greg Gard’s squad finished the regular season with a 19-12 record overall and a 11-9 record in BIG10 Conference play. Wisconsin finished as the fifth seed in the conference and that is the seed they will be in the BIG10 Tournament, The Badgers will play the winner of the #13 Rutgers Scarlet Knights and #12 Maryland Terrapins on Thursday, March 14 in the BIG10 Conference Tournament.
The Badgers beat both of those teams during the regular season and they should be able to beat them in the first game that they play in.
Wisconsin will need to win at least one game in this tournament to get to 20 wins total on the season. The Badgers have cooled off over the last month of the regular season.
#3 Purdue Boilermakers are the Number One Seed in the BIG10 Conference Tournament Once Again After the Win Against the Wisconsin Badgers
Matt Painter’s squad once again is the number-one seed in the BIG10 Conference Tournament. They finished the regular season with a 28-3 overall record and a 17-3 conference record during the regular season. Once again on their Senior Day, Zach Edey led the way with 25 points, 14 rebounds, and three assists.
Purdue was the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament last season before losing in the first game to FDU. They hope to win the conference tournament again this season and have better luck in the NCAA Tournament.
Fletcher Loyer scored 15 points, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded four assists. Braden Smith also scored 10 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and 10 assists for the Boilermakers against the Badgers.
The Badgers and the Boilermakers may play each other again in the BIG10 Conference Tournament in the semifinals. Wisconsin is looking to win a couple of games to get right before the NCAA Tournament.
