Wisconsin Badgers basketball received lots of good players heading into the 2025 season but they lost a lot of squad members from 2024, too. Among them is Daniel Freitag who just found a new home.

The 6’2 guard is among the three players who left the team last month through the transfer portal. The other ones are Xavier Amos and Camren Hunter.
Between the three, Freitag is the last one to commit to a new team.
Freitag, who came to Wisconsin as a four-star prospect from Bloomington, Minnesota, will now play for Buffalo Bulls. He personally announced the commitment through his personal X account.

Freitag leaving after just one season is understandable.
He played 14 games for the team last season and averaged just two minutes per outing. He scored two points in total.

His former teammate John Blackwell, team’s current cornerstone, showed him support.

Freitag will join a team that is hoping to turn things around after finishing 11th out of the 12th teams in the Mid-American Conference.
Players who left and joined Wisconsin Badgers so far
John Tonje, Max Klesmit, Steven, Crowl, Carter Gilmore, and Kamari McGee are the seniors from last season who won’t be back for 2025.
The team is projected to remain competitive despite this departure because of their transfer portal activities.
The team signed experienced and reliable guard Nick Boyd from San Diego State Aztecs and is being predicted to work alongside Blackwell and Nolan Winter.

They also have a replacement for either Crowl and Gilmore through the commitment from Andrew Rohde who is capable of playing multiple positions.
Another major signing is forward Austin Rapp who joined the team from Portland Pilots.
